Activity in the old Crosstown KFC

PTC History's picture

Anyone know what is comming? I see that some construction/demolition is going on in the building.

What resturants would you like to see here? Personally, I would like a Steak n' Shake but I know they usually build near the interstate.

Also, is there still going to be a Panera in the new Target complex?

And what is a Shanes?

Submitted by McDonoughDawg on Tue, 10/24/2006 - 8:07pm.

Shanes is a franchised BBQ joint. Not bad, but when you knew what the original was/is like, it's not the same. Cafe Pig is the way to for BBQ in this area, but their hours/days open are limited.

Shane's Rib Shack - have really good Ribs and BBQ. Pricey though.
I saw the sign over across from the new Super Target in the new shopping area there.

pretty good stuff but Cafe Pig whoops em' good when it comes to the banana pudding. No Contest!

Is it true that Cafe Pig is opening up next to the new mosque?

Would be my choice for sure over Shanes if I was choosing between the two. Hard to go wrong with good local Que from the Cafe Pig. They have great sides too.

I lived about 1 mile from the "original" Shanes in McDonough. That boy has done good....He got big bucks selling his franchise to Raving Brands.

As to another location near the Mosque....that's funny, I don't care who you are. Smiling

Now we need a: Steak and Shake, a Red Lobster, an Olive garden, a Ruth's Chis' Steakhouse and a, oh, forget it. Yea for Popeyes!

McDonoughDawg - you could open a carboard box and hang out a shingle and make money here - we need places to eat something awful man!! The waiting time in Fayetteville is AW-Ful!

Git Real will agree with me on this one... can we have a Krystal's!
Gut Bombers rule!

Krystals....Oh Yeah Sister!

Wish there was a good chain that made all kinds of soups, salads, and fruits to fill in between the steaks and the Cheese Krystal days.

Submitted by swmbo on Mon, 10/23/2006 - 10:40pm.

Krystals??! yuck! (where's the up-chucking icon?)

I agree that we need something nutritious in the midpoint between steaks and Krystals (the only fast food that doubles as a naturally-occurring laxative).

Glad to hear we have a real butcher.

Hey! What about a Pizzaria Uno? There are none of those in Georgia. Sad

Submitted by bladderq on Sat, 10/21/2006 - 7:56am.

I believe ya'll are going to have to settle for a Popeyes....it's kinda like Emirl's. I believe they announced the same fate for the KFC in Fayetteville. I still recommend GA Shrimp Co over by the "little" Kroger.

Submitted by swmbo on Sat, 10/21/2006 - 5:31pm.

If the only choice was fried chicken, Bojangles is the best. They have great sides, too. In that price range, how about a Boston Market?

GA Shrimp Co. has really great food. Very fresh and tasty and the service is attentive without being "hover-y".

Cheesecake Factory is just "okay" in my opinion -- not fabulous -- just okay.

I guess the pertinent question is as to what price point is sustainable. That is, if we want more restaurants in Fayette Co., do we want more cheap fast food, mid-priced restaurants or expense account restaurants? And can Fayette Co. sustain another restaurant at whatever that price point is?

Sorry, PTC History, I'm not a big Steak 'N Shake fan. But I wouldn't mind a Panera. I'd Really like to see a Mama Fu's (asian fusion) restaurant and a Maggiano's Italian restaurant.

And most of all, I would Love it if we had a Whole Foods market. Restauranteurs, I hope you're listening.

Definitly Whole Foods market, Copelands, Twist, Eatzies. Can we have anything, is the sky the limit? How about Emeril's, Ruth Chris Steak House, Brazil, Bridge Town Grill, Cheese Cake Factory? Ok I'm dreaming.

What about Trader Joe's? One just opened up in Roswell.

is a quality butcher shop/Whole Foods. I hate that I have to drive to Decatur every Saturday for quality meat/seafood. Or am I the only one?

Submitted by ptcjenn on Mon, 10/23/2006 - 3:15pm.

The one in downtown Tyrone is really good! No preservatives etc. in the meat. I HIGHLY recommend it,the guy in there is really nice too. There is also a seafood place at the top of Robinson Rd. in PTC that's good.

I wouldn't drive to Decatur every week for food - yikes.

Submitted by fulton4 on Tue, 10/24/2006 - 7:49am.

What is the name of the Tyrone butcher shop? Also is that seafood shop the one that is attached to the gas station off 54 in PTC? If so, thanks, but no thanks...went there once and the quality was not good.

Yeah, the seafood place on Petrol Point next to the gas station. Yummy.

And anyone who thinks GA Shrimp Company is GOOD seafood needs a serious awakening. I'm sorry, but deep-frying everything that comes out of water isn't good seafood....not anywhere close to it.

The one restaurant chain not in Fayette County that would likely do well is Red Lobster. I think a buffet place like Ryan's or Golden Corral would also do well if they could get the land at a reasonable price because they are hindered by having to have BIG buildings with their concept. With all the families in Fayette, a buffet-style restaurant is a no-brainer. I know MORRISON'S didn't cut it but that was a near-death chain when they opened in PTC to begin with.

If you are looking for a good meat-market place, there is a grocery store in Palmetto that cuts it and is excellent. I think it's called Bradley's or Best Buy...anyhow, you can't really miss it because there are no other grocery stores in Palmetto:) excellent quality meat.

GA Shrimp Co, that is. I have, and about half the menu is grilled/cajun items. It's online if don't believe me. They have fried items for sure, but they also offer a good many other alternatives.

I would much prefer to eat there than most any of the seafood chains around. They have expanded the menu in the last few months. Give it a look.

The do have very good meat and will cut to your specifications. They also will (or used to) marinate steaks for you. Their secret marinade is AWESOME!!!! It’s worth the trip.

Makes me have a craving for Longhorns or some Chinese food. You guys actually go out of your way to buy that overpriced stuff?

I guess eating organic and lots of exercise gives one the sense that perhaps they'll be healthier than the average Joe. What’s ironic though....You guys are probably going to die before me. As I stand at your coffin paying my last respects I swallow the last bite of my Backyard Burger. Wiping my mouth on my sleeve I gaze at your lean body lying there and think to myself how bad all that organic junk and exercise was for you. And I tell LovePTC as she pulls out another Krystal burger... "But he sure makes good looking carcass. Doesn’t he?".

Submitted by wocdam on Wed, 10/25/2006 - 9:14am.

Yes, we actually go out of our way to buy the overpriced stuff. It seems because I failed to exercise and ate so much Longhorn and Chinese, I got cancer. So, I hope when you're standing over my coffin eating your Backyard Burger, that you think "Huh, guess maybe I should take my foot out of my mouth and think more about the crap I'm eating". I wish you health and happiness! Smiling

But don't run. You see, the body is like a fine tuned machine - like a Kia or a Hyundai (a car) there are just so many miles you can get out of it.

You don't want to use too many too fast or you will need a new car - only you can't buy one - so your Kia will be well - raggady and worn out and might break.

Anyway - don't run because the Podo thinks you stole something or accuses you of like, having pot and throwing it away, only that was another dudes and you just happened to run by it while jogging in your street clothes and the the lawyer doesn't believe you either so, well, anyway, don't run.

Eul Gibbons or something - like pinecone eating man - died. The running guy - Jim Kick or something - died. Moral - don't run or eat wood. See, Backyard burgers are okay - as long as you don't run.
