Local medical office introduces new pain management therapyTue, 09/27/2005 - 11:01pm

With an estimated 50 million Americans living with chronic pain, The Doctor's Office, LLC is introducing an innovative new bioelectric pain management therapy to its Peachtree City practice, and eventually to all seven Southern Crescent office locations. The therapy has been proven effective in reducing and eliminating pain from a variety of health conditions, including arthritis, low back, bone/joint pain, muscle pain, neuropathies and fibromyalgia with little or no side affects. In many cases, the therapy has eliminated the need for medications altogether. Providing high quality care and targeting the source of disease and pain are important things The Doctors Office is known for within our community, explained Dr. Jeffery Curtis, CEO. With so many patients coming to our offices with chronic pain, we wanted to find a proven therapy that would compliment our traditional medical treatments. Many of The Doctors Office patients have experienced immediate pain relief with the therapy, and notice cumulative effects as they progress with their treatments. There are virtually no negative side effects with bioelectric therapy, and many times, patients are able to completely wean off related medications. The Doctors Office has partnered with Conyers-based Sollage Pain Solutions, LLC to provide the bioelectric therapy technology. Sollage is a front-runner in developing innovative pain management solutions for health practice partners. Although many forms of the therapy are covered by most insurance plans, the firm is also spearheading efforts to have the treatments recognized as a mainstream physical and medical therapy. Bioelectric therapy works much like a traditional TENS unit; however, the currents penetrate much deeper to the cellular level, desensitizing the nerve for long-term pain relief. The therapy breaks the pain cycle during the first series of treatments, then continues to rehabilitate the body by building muscle and preventing atrophy. Bioelectric therapy can be an alternative to medical treatments that have failed to produce results, but it is also often a complement to traditional care, explained Sollage CEO Michael Smith. Our practice partners have discovered they are able to significantly rehabilitate their patients from both chronic pain and acute pain caused by injuries. Bioelectric therapy can also be used in conjunction with local pain medication injections to speed their effectiveness and deliver the medicine directly to the source of pain. Sollages ElectroChem therapy also increases the efficacy of the medication from a few hours to several days. Treatment frequency and duration varies based on the patients type of pain, health condition or injuries. Since bioelectric therapy increases circulation and blood flow, patients with thrombophelbitis, pacemakers, cancer and acute viral or bacterial infections should not undergo treatment. The Doctor's Office, LLC prides itself in being a true family practice and treats patients of all ages, from infants to grandparents. Its doctors and mid-level providers take the time to listen to their patients and to carefully explain the problem and treatment options. Its goal is to provide excellent patient care by offering the benefits of proactive and preventative medicine to improve the health of the entire family, and for community employees through their Occupational Medicine Program. The Doctor's Office is managed by Quality Physician Services, a full-service medical management and service organization. For more information, visit www.thedoctorsoffice.ws. login to post comments |
