Redistricting will mean busing from north PTC

I am sure that you are aware of the Fayette Board of Education is planning on redistricting the schools. They want to bus our kids out of Peachtree City to Flat Creek and Sandy Creek schools.

How is this fair when we pay Peachtree City taxes, and we have to have our kids bused to another town to attend school? Please make people aware that they are doing this.

The schools are administered by the "County", not town or city.

That your child may be sent to a "different" school, one perhaps not in your area, has nothing to do with it.

I understand that perhaps you would like your child to attend your "local" school but that's not how these things are calculated.

Believe me, one of my daughters changed schools four times in four years. One of those changes was because we moved but the other three were because of redistricting.

In any event, support the school your child ends up in.

All of our schools need all the help they can get. Ultimately, parents make the difference in their child's education.

Do you always leave the same reply to ever letter that you write to the Citizen? I think this is the second time I read this reply. If you can't think of something original say it twice. Don't you wish you did not look so foolish?

They were both, in fact, wrong. They both wrote letters to the newspaper before they knew the facts. They both should be embarrassed for displaying their obvious lack of "real" knowledge in the newspaper. People like them make bad situations worse. They spread false rumors and get people all mad about stuff that isn't even true.
Originality was not necessary in my comments because both writers made the same mistake. By the way, "I am not a crook."

Gosh Beeve, I wish I didn't get people all mad about stuff that isn't true. But what if it were true? What if Lucy was right? Would it not have been better to notify parents of the potential issue before it happened than have them try to react when it is too late?

Then the kid with the guns at school wouldn't be a story.

Then again, there wouldn't be any PR on who was a hero either.

Was that 400 was about one-third of over 1700. One third of 1700 would actually be about 567 that makes you off by 167 or about 33%. Should we say that you should be "embarrassed for displaying their (your)obvious lack of "real" knowledge in the newspaper."? Try a little kindness. Smiling

You may not be a crook - but you are no mathematician either! Just kidding bud - lighten up.

How does it feel to be so wrong? Don't you wish you'd waited for the truth before you made a fool of yourself in the newspaper?

So? We've been bussing kids to Peeples, Rising Starr, and Starrs Mill for a while. Do you propose that all PTC middle schoolers cram into Booth? And all PTC high schoolers in to McIntosh? Where on earth would you put them?

Mom to 3, plus the kids that hang out there all the time but don't live there (they like having an adult around that makes them feel welcome, and is just plain around!)

You pay PTC taxes, but you also pay COUNTY taxes. And the COUNTY is who pays for all of the schools. There are no such thing as "Peachtree City" schools. Only "Fayette County" schools. Some PTC kids are already being bussed out of PTC every day... Starr's Mill and Rising Starr are not in Peachtree City.

Oh, and by the way, it is "Flat Rock" not "Flat Creek."
