WHS student now out on house arrest in gun case

A Fayette teen accused of bringing four firearms and more than 150 rounds of ammunition to Whitewater High School in August is out of jail but on house arrest, monitored by a GPS computer-locating system.

Robin Kittrell, 17, can’t leave his parents’ home except for medical or psychological treatment and in either case must be accompanied by at least one of his parents, according to the bond order approved Friday by Fayette Superior Court Judge Johnnie Caldwell. Kittrell also is banned from going on the property of any school.

Kittrell’s parents, Malcolm and Sharon, were required to post a $150,000 bond for the release of their son pending trial. They also had to agree to keep all weapons out of the home. Prior to the incident the family had several heirloom guns, and Kittrell and his father often practiced firing the weapons on a family shooting range, police said.

Kittrell must continue “all necessary psychological or psychiatric treatment as indicated by a licensed clinician,” the bond states.

Some of Kittrell’s friends have said the straight-A student had never been in trouble before. Police said the guns were found in Kittrell’s car in the parking lot after they were following up on a tip that Kittrell had brought a knife to school.

Kittrell is charged with seven counts of possession of a weapon on school property and one count of possession of a concealed weapon.

Kittrell, who participated on the Whitewater High School marching band, had attended band camp as the summer wrapped up just before the beginning of the school year.

The anonymous tipster who provided the information about Kittrell having the knife was praised by law enforcement and school officials for coming forward with the information. Officials said that was the only way the school could have learned about the other weapons.

In addition to the weapons, which were stowed inside a case, police also found a number of plastic flexcuffs, which are a disposable type of handcuff routinely used by police. Also found in Kittrell’s car were a large ninja-style sword, a belt with two speed-loading devices to quickly reload a revolver and a pair of binoculars.

I live near the Kittrell "compound" and the entire time that Robin Kittrell was in jail there were no gun shot sounds coming from the property. Today, Tuesday Oct. 17 I have heard nothing but loud shots all day coming from the property. The Sheriffs Dept. needs to closely monitor this kid. It makes me wonder what he is doing all day.

Are you sure you don't live in south PTC? We hear gunshot all of the time. Usually it only lasts for 30mins or so. You'll get used to it, we have. I guess its ok, or legal since no one has been hit, yet.

With rifle season for deer coming how can you tell where the shots are coming from?

Does the court order stipulate that gun "sounds" can't emanate from the property or from the other side of the property?

If you're that concerned about it, why don't you try and "sneak" over there and take pictures of what you find? Good practice targets are hard to come by.

The kid hasn't been convicted of anything yet. At least not by a court of law.

YOU MUST BE THE BIGGEST IDIOT LIBERAL THAT I HAVE SEEN ON THESE BLOGS. HEY IF I TAKE SOME PICTURES, WHY DON'T YOU COME WITH ME, LIBERALS LIKE YOU WILL GET SHOT TRYING TO "UNDERSTAND HIM." NO HE HASN'T BEEN CONVICTED, HE JUST LIKES TO BRING AN ARSENAL WITH HIM TO SCHOOL, JUST LIKE JOHNNY AND JANE DO EVERYDAY RIGHT. WHAT KID IN HIS RIGHT MIND WOULD DO THAT? I HOPE PEOPLE LIKE YOU DON'T GET PICKED FOR THE JURY. AND YES I DEER HUNT AND HAVE A PERFECT VIEW OF HIS PROPERTY THANK YOU!

LIBERALS LIKE YOU WILL GET SHOT TRYING TO "UNDERSTAND HIM”

No we won’t. We idiot liberals don’t give a damn.

If you are so concerned about the gun shots, you can take the pictures.

We idiot liberals are still trying to figure out how many service men and women have to die before the emperor decides to get our troops the heck out sand country.

AND YES I DEER HUNT AND HAVE A PERFECT VIEW OF HIS PROPERTY THANK YOU!

Well by golly if you have such a GREAT VIEW of their “COMPOUND” did you SEE the kid shooting a gun?

Is it your habit to spy on all of your neighbors or just a few?

Aren’t “COUMPOUNDS” normally surrounded by WALLS or a 10 foot tall fence?

You must be one of those “shoot the moving bush” type dear hunters if you have such a great view and didn’t see anything.

If I had seen him he would be back in jail for violating his conditions of bond, when did I ever say I seen him? As far as spying on my neighbors no I don't turn an ignorant head when something is going on in ear shot of my home. My guess is you live in Peachtree City where there is no crime and everyone is just soooooooooo honest. Hey does Winni The Pooh live next to you. And I see your a typical "Bush Hater." I should have known.

You seem pretty convinced that the sounds are coming from the property, and I'm assuming that if you can tell exactly what home shots are coming from in a relatively crowded area that you must have SEEN something, so, personally, I take that to mean that you're blaming SOMEONE that lives there (By the way, try proofreading your posts, please).

At least I'm willing to admit when I've made a mistake.

No Pooh doesn't live next to me, I have to many guns for his liking.

I loved you description of their home as a "COMPOUND" and you can "SEE EVERYTHING" that goes on there.

Well Karnak, where did the shots come from?

If you're going to attempt to discredit the boy and his family, please at least know what you're talking about.

The bottom line is you saw nothing and probably heard someone else sighting in their rifle for dear season. We've been hearing gun shots here in PTC as well.

Crawl back under your rock, have another beer and it will all go away.

I guess I'll have some coffee (I don't drink) and stick my head in the sand like the rest of you. View of the property, funny how that became SEE EVERYTHING as you put it. See you later I have to put my camouflage suit on and drive the tank to work. Hey cyanbrodderick getting a little anal over the grammer AIN"T we.

It's "Carnac", not "Karnak".

It's "too" many, not "to" many.

It's you loved "your" decision, not "you" decision.

And if you will be a little nicer, no one will bother to correct your which, witch is which or any other of these typos. Smiling

I know, and often prove, I can make mistakes.

The faster I type the more mistakes I seem to make. I did the same thing a few weeks ago. I get after a topic and don't slow down long enough to check my typing.

But what I don't do is insinuate that someone is breaking the law when I have no proof.

Your post about hearing gun shots coming from the boys home was totally unfounded and I took it to mean that you have some personal axe to grind.

Unlike some others here I have to believe the SO would not allow the boy to return without removing all weapons from the home as a precaution.

This entire incident has had a bad oder to it from the start.

I would like to see people at least try and give the kid a break and get his head on straight so that he can get back into society with as little lasting damage as possible.

Did he screw up? From the few facts that have been published I would have to say yes.

Did he intend to kill some number of people, I don't believe so.

Then, as you have pointed out, I've been wrong before.

The Problem with Presidential Signing Statements: Their Use and Misuse by the Bush Administration

Relying On Command, Rather Than Persuasion

Phillip Cooper is a leading expert on signing statements. His 2002 book, By Order of the President: The Use and Abuse of Executive Direct Action, assesses the uses and abuses of signing statements by presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton. Cooper has updated his material in a recent essay for the Presidential Studies Quarterly, to encompass the use of signing statements by now-President Bush as well.

By Cooper's count, George W. Bush issued 23 signing statements in 2001; 34 statements in 2002, raising 168 constitutional objections; 27 statements in 2003, raising 142 constitutional challenges, and 23 statements in 2004, raising 175 constitutional criticisms. In total, during his first term Bush raised a remarkable 505 constitutional challenges to various provisions of legislation that became law.

That number may be approaching 600 challenges by now. Yet Bush has not vetoed a single bill, notwithstanding all these claims, in his own signing statements, that they are unconstitutional insofar as they relate to him.

Add to that:

Bush shuns Patriot Act requirement

In addendum to law, he says oversight rules are not binding

I have never seen such vitriolic hatred of an American President during wartime. You are damaging your country and you are too ignorant to know it.

You have placed all of your faith in a 2002 statement by Phillip Cooper (He received his BA in Government at California State University, Sacramento and the M.A. and Ph.D. from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs of Syracuse University. He has taught at several universities, including Georgia State University) Okay.

Why not let Ann Coulter, a much more distinguished academic, mold your thoughts:

After her undergradguate at Cornell, Coulter helped The Cornell Review,[9] and was a member of the Delta Gamma national women's fraternity.[10] She graduated cum laude from Cornell in 1984, and received her law degree from the University of Michigan, where she achieved membership in the Order of the Coif and was an editor of The Michigan Law Review.[11] At Michigan, Coulter founded a local chapter of the Federalist Society and was trained at the National Journalism Center.[12][13]

After law school, Coulter served as a law clerk for Pasco Bowman II of the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and was an attorney in the Department of Justice Honors Program for outstanding law school graduates. After a short time in private practice in New York City, she worked for the United States Senate Judiciary Committee, where she handled crime and immigration issues for Senator Spencer Abraham of Michigan. She later became a litigator with the Center For Individual Rights.

After all, since you can't think for yourself, isn't Ann Coulter the more qualified to be your brain? As a constitutional law expert she can at least make a cogent argument.

I was tired of reading about perverts and who's kid has to go to what school. Both are done deals but nobody told these people.

I wanted someone intelligent to argue with, thats all.

Now on to more fun and games.

How is it going to end?

When is it going to end?

How many rights must a U.S. citizen give up?

How much money are we going to "truck" over there? Money that's needed here.

How much more .....

We've been after that worm for five years and can't find the hole he's in. I say we turn the whole place into glass.

Heck, Oli North told congress in the 80's that the worm needed kellen then and nobody listened.

How about we just annex Iran, call it a territory and lease it back to Saudi Arabia for a nice little profit.

We're not going to change the "radical" Muslim way of thinking. Not unless we kill all of them.

What we don't have is a good way to "save face" and leave.

If Mexico decided to invade Texas we wouldn't have the resources to push them back. Come to think of it, Mexico is invading Texas, Arizona and California. What should we do, build a fence? Na, lets just call them "citizens" and let them vote in the next election.

I wouldn't be surprised if Canada wanted a piece of us.

Lee Harvey Football still thinks it's 2004 and he can conflate not supporting the president with not supporting your country.

No one's buying that crap anymore, Lee.

Thanks for the "Ann Coulter is an intellectual! Really!" bit, though. I needed a laugh today.

"Dear Hunting" ? Sounds like a romantic rage. Hey, bad, you and Robert W. Morgan-Lenox certainly hold up the liberal-Demo end really well.

Gosh, the "dear hunting" brought a bad weekend. At a weekend away, I decided it was time to tell my fiance we needed to take some space. Renting "Fatal Attraction" on the hotel tv was a bad choice. Bad sleep that night.
