If anyone really thinks that all of this redistricting has to do with just improving over-crowding, you are wrong. There's more to it than that. And by the way, it's sad when just the mention of Dixie or Southern in a blog draws the word uncivilized. What makes it uncivilized? If you want to see uncivilized, go look around in Riverdale where there is not a Rebel Flag or the word Dixie anywhere in sight!!!!!

I have a feeling that in regards to the D.O. Tshirts issue, an agreement was reached and everything will return to normal soon.

how this meeting is going or how it went. I imagine it could of been heated if the public was allowed to speak.

Seems like I read that somewhere. Just showing the new maps and will have a 30 day period for comments to be submitted.

I agree with Dawg. They will stick strictly to the published agenda. Nothing more. I would imagine the presentation of the new maps will draw a big crowd, though. I'd get there early.

Until you see how the new maps will effect you/your subdivision/area how will you comment on the re-districting? When will the maps be shown? I guess that is the bigger question. From further review of the agenda, it appears the maps will be shown AFTER the public comment portion of the meeting. This goes along with what I've heard. 30 day period for submitting comments...

I live in Spyglass Sub and don't think my 9th grader will be effected. I would like to see all of PTC left in McIntosh/Starrs Mill at the very least. My Son has friends in Centennial and other areas that are concerned. I will be curious as to how it turns out.

Submitted by ihaveone on Mon, 10/16/2006 - 7:26pm.

Has anyone seen the maps yet? I have heard that the Brooks area will be affected AGAIN. My ninth grader will be affected. Since we are the RURAL AREA of the county we don't seem to "CRY" loud enough for the BOE to hear us so we just take what we are handed. NOT THIS TIME. I will start my own war on this one if they try and re-district my child. What part of the word STABILITY do you think the BOE doesn't understand? And they wonder why they are having such a problem with drugs in the schools????
And just a history lesson here. Starr's Mill was built orginally for all children that lived in the Brooks area but PTC wanted it so they got it. Whitewater High was started/built, Brooks kids fed into WMS and from there on to WHS. We are HAPPY that our kids have had stability and want to keep it that way. They need to mess with out of district people and special requests. This would alleviate a majority of the problems they are having with overcrowding.

anywhere but Whitewater. No other school makes much sense. Starrs Mill and McIntosh have all they can handle as it is.

Submitted by ihaveone on Mon, 10/16/2006 - 8:39pm.

that anyone South of Porter Rd. was back to Starr's Mill. I hope you are right.

Maybe you should learn a lesson from this...don't get upset until you've got the facts. Rumors, rumors, rumors....

Submitted by OldSchoolFootball on Mon, 10/16/2006 - 7:39pm.

... your star running back for Whitewater high school who lives in Clayton County? You may want to start there Eye-wink

Submitted by ihaveone on Mon, 10/16/2006 - 7:51pm.

If he is from Clayton County he shouldn't be there, PERIOD star running back or not. But, if he has a parent that works for the FCBOE then he is allowed to attend the school of their choice.
I don't really keep up with who is or who is not on the football team. I do not LIKE the politics that go along with HS sports. It is way out of control.

Submitted by OldSchoolFootball on Mon, 10/16/2006 - 7:58pm.

If YOU as a parent of WWHS don't check on it - who do you think will???

I am a Sandy Creek supporter...they would just say 'sour grapes' - put your action where your complaint is- call the county office or YOUR school and ask a couple questions and make a couple calls - 20 minutes tops.

Your student may get moved - but your star running back won't! Bet me!!

Submitted by ihaveone on Mon, 10/16/2006 - 8:02pm.

Hello - we are on the same page here. You just told me something I was not aware of. I will check on it. But like I said, if he has a parent working in the system there is nothing I or you can do to change that. My you get upset on these sports issues. I read a lot of your blogs.

Submitted by OldSchoolFootball on Mon, 10/16/2006 - 8:19pm.

Yes indeed, we are on the same page! Sports have always been a passion of mine and I try my best to keep up with local sports as well. My son is a professional athlete and my be scouting and recruiting soon. I would love that! At any rate, I hope your kids get the stability you desire. At least you are between two good schools!

Submitted by ihaveone on Mon, 10/16/2006 - 8:34pm.

Good luck to your son. Hopefully we will get to stay at Whitewater.
Just tired of being jerked around.

Submitted by aprilw on Mon, 10/16/2006 - 1:31pm.

But I hope to see this story on the news and all. I would like to know what happens. Maybe people who attend can blog and let us all know the details since even if it is on the news they will just do a few seconds of it.

Submitted by dixie-mom on Mon, 10/16/2006 - 1:23pm.

I want to make sure to get a in at this meeting so I am suggesting all concerned DIXIE parents be at the meeting early because I am sure they will close the doors quickly when they see the large quantities coming through the doors. I noticed on the FCBOE website they state they have an "AGENDA REVIEW: 6:30 – 7:00 P.M." so if you are planning to get there at 7:00 for the meeting time you probably will be to late to get in. Also, if any can verify that the meeting is at the central office at 210 Stonewall Ave. I would appreciate it I don't want to go to the wrong place. Please call everyone you can to attend this meeting we need to support our kids and the only way to do this is to let our voices be heard.

Just what, exactly, is a "Dixie Parent?"

Submitted by dixiemom on Mon, 10/16/2006 - 1:41pm.

A Dixie Parent is any parent who lives in the south and is proud of their entire southern heritage not just what is Politically Correct.

"Did you have to put this Dixie crap into this. Another example of its not the kids its their idiot parents. Let us be civilized for a change"
