TDK=2008, Crosstown 4-lane=2020, Disaster=PTC Politicians

From the recent Shannon Mall October 3rd Regional Transportation Meeting:

"Also on the ARC’s books for completion in 2008 is the $4.1 million TDK Boulevard Extension."

"Out into the future is...the four-laning of Crosstown Drive from Hwy. 74 to Peachtree Parkway in 2020"

Hey, City of McIntosh drivers (circa 2010), hard to get out onto the newly 4-laned 74 or Crosstown...traffic backed up into Coweta County for one mile? Solution? Hang a left on Dividend Drive to Planterra Ridge, left on 54, right on McDuff Parkway Extension to 74. Many will just go straight, right up the newly redeveloped Huddleston Road. Either way thousands of cars will be trying to pick their way through the western part of the city.

PTC politicians, your political careers will probably end over this...it is just a matter of what new faces will appear to run against you. The anti/slow-growth forces are going to swamp the next elections.

I'm still waiting for your solutions to the traffic congestion that we're doomed to have. I want some real solutions other than stopping this development. And I'd also like to know what your agenda is. Are you some commuter that doesn't like to sit in traffic? Maybe you're a general aviation pilot that is scared of some noise abatement procedures? Or maybe you're just ramping up for a campaign soon and you think this issue will take you to the top. Oh, and look I got a new picture-I'm eager to hear your clever remarks on this one.

So if you are against drivers and more traffic snaking through the PTC backroads then why are you so against widening existing highways?! I just don't get it. It's what I've been saying all along. You people that are on here complaining about the 74 Widening and TDK extension will be the same ones whining about bad traffic on back roads in a few years if TDK isn't built. Why wait until the traffic nightmare begins to start making improvements. If 74 isn't widened imagine what the traffic will be like. It's bad enough now during shift changes.

I appreciate your honesty in admitting that you are a turkey by including that delicious looking self portrait. Yum yum.

I love the way you turkey TDK profiteers try to change the topic to confuse the issue. The widening of Highway 74 and TDK are separate issues, of course, but you profiteers made sure that your pet road followed (immediately) the 74 project. I have not read a single blog here that was against the 74 widening. What I HAVE read is how people are angry that powerful politicians at several levels have sold out our birthright for some thin porridge called TDK. "Shift changes" - - yeah - - I am sure you are just a regular blue collar guy. LOL. What is it? Elected official, concrete supplier, real estate, or home builder?

No; sorry to disappoint you, but I'm not a developer or any of the other occupations you listed. I am your well educated average working man that happens to work in Atlanta. The only reason that I commented on your blog is because I'm tired of people whining on here and wishing that these problems would just go away-they won't. We need to proactively plan for the future whether or not it's the future that is ideal in your mind. So, other than stopping these developments (which isn't likely) I'd love to hear your plan for easing traffic congestion. As for your elected officials-all I can say is that this is a democratic society and if you don't like them then you can do something about it.

Because it is a TURKEY of a project. And we PTC citizens will not be celebrating THANKSGIVING when it is built, but will consider it a nightmare version of HALLOWEEN. I don't believe that you are a "well educated average working man" (isn't that an oxymoron?) that "happens to work in Atlanta." You TDK profiteers that have started to blog on this site are a riot. You call TDK opponents "whiners" and talk about how we need to "plan for the future." TDK is a plan for the future - -your FINANCIAL FUTURE, Mr. Turkey Profiteer. You will unleash tens of thousands of cars from Coweta into PTC so that you can become rich, and you want PTC citizens to shut up while you make your $$.

I like the TDK idea to ease traffic. I'm not a profiteer..if you'd do a little research on my name you would probably find out what I do. I do enjoy your clever little references to holidays and my avatar. You are one smart cookie. It's too bad you don't possess the same cleverness when it comes to city or highway planning. By the way, you didn't tell me ANY ideas at all to ease congestion. So, pretty please with sugar on top, tell me some ways to stop the traffic.

Somebody's gotta have fun on here. These people are too angry!! And it's about something they can't stop.

That's exactly right. The only thing we can control is how we deal with the traffic. I'd suggest everyone invest in satellite radio and enjoy the ride home. Why get worked up about something you have no control over?

Or they could listen to tapes on anger management. Oh, I forgot, now they listen to CDs.

Only thing wrong with all that is there won't be any new houses in McIntosh by 2008 and maybe 100 by 2010. These alarmist projections of thousands of houses make good headlines, but they take decades. It looks as if the highway construction will either precede the residential growth for once or maybe just be at the right time. Sure is better than other counties where they don't plan ahead at all.

Voter? Who dat? The 9% turnout. What are they going to do? Vote against Greg Dunn? Oh yea, I forgot.

Mudkitten,

You are correct about the VERY low turnout in the last election. But do you think if our municipal election were held today, only 9% of the PTC residents would turnout? Judging by comments from my neighbors, we would probably have more than half the city show up to vote against the rascals. We are a slumbering giant, but the residents are waking up to all of this chicanery.

The Coweta home building will occur at a prolific rate, and whether it is 2010 or 2015, a traffic nightmare is coming to PTC because of the TDK Highway.
