Save Our City makes it quite clear. Now add in all of the latest traffic data and you've got to ask why we are still building the "Road to Ruin"?????????

Who is paying for the TDK Extension? PTC, Fayette County or Coweta County? Some seem to think Coweta is helping to pay. Is that right?

Coweta Co. is responsible for thier side. I don't know who is responsible for the other. I read in one paper that it was PTC, but we will see when it comes time to pay up. You know how they tend to "pass the buck" (pun intended).

I appreciate your response. As for passing the buck, that's a way of life for most of the folks that run Coweta County. Things will definitely get interesting in the next six months.

Save Our City's post includes only the traffic count for the one development. Don't forget there are two other on the books. For all the three, the count should be somewhere around 65,000.

The count given by the city planner at the Sept. 12th meeting was 55,656 vehicle trips/day from just this one development.

The vehicle trips/day for the other development were provided I but I can't find my notes.

The traffic count I mentioned in my blog (26,000) was that portion of the City of McIntosh traffic that is projected to commute north on 74 (BTW, it effectively doubles the daily current count). I totally agree with the others that 26,000 is very low. My point is that we in PTC/Fayette are SUBSIDIZING infrastructure that has an ENORMOUS benefit/cost ratio for the owners of the Coweta property, as well as Coweta County (in terms of projected revenue), but LITTLE to NO benefit to our side of Line Creek! Yet we are being sold out by our elected officials, who could easliy stop this mess. The mayor said we must provide access to a 6(?) acre parcel of Fayette land on our side of Line Creek adjacent the TDK right-of-way (as part of some type of legal agreement to the landowners). So go ahead, build TDK to that point and cul-de-sac the extension there!

I don't particularly like this either, so don't just get into attack mode - reason it out and it may help everyone understand why politicians do certain things.

The traffic count will almost certainly be over 50,000 3 or so years after "McIntosh" starts building. Problem for them is it will take 5+ years for their traffic count and population to support serious commercial development. Peachtree City is not quite large enough to support the commercial we have and the little bit more we are getting, but an increased traffic count from the west will probably keep questionable businesses like K-mart, Best Buy and Target in business.

Like I said, don't really like the idea of increased traffic coming in to support retail uses we could have easily done without, but since there's no going back to change past decisions, better to have them open and paying taxes rather than closing and being an eyesore (or Big Lots). Our political leaders even believe that under this scenario that they will be able to lower taxes. Fat chance!
