Georgia wins Gold Division of USTA Bullfrog Southern Team ChampionshipFri, 09/29/2006 - 9:53am

For the 13th year in a row the Georgia Team won the Gold Divison of the USTA Bullfrog Southern Team Championship Cup. Each of the nine states in the southern section sent a team to Chattanooga to compete. Each team had nine girls and nine boys, three from each age group. Each player played four singles matches and four doubles matches. The Georgia Team only lost nine matches the entire weekend, giving them the best finish for a team in the competition’s history.
In the Round Robin, singles Kevin King did the following: Lost to Eric Quigley ranked 6th……6-2,6-0; Beat Andy Pulido ranked 66th….6-1, 6-0; Beat Dejon Bivens ranked 13th…..1-0 Retired w/ injury; Beat William Lang ranked 9th….6-4, 6-1. In the Round Robin, singles Natalie Pluskota did the following: Beat Emily Mallory ranked 64th….6-2, 6-3; Beat Abbey Sharpe ranked 97th….6-0,6-4; Beat Christina Lee ranked 51st….6-4,6-3; Beat Allison Hodges ranked 44th…6-2,6-3 ---Pluskota used an underhand serve during this match and the previous match due to pulled shoulder muscle. Pluskota and her doubles partners Grace Min and Courtney Griffith won all of their matches. She served two doubles matches underhandedly due to pulled muscle. King and his double partners Jamison Cox and soon to be Georgia Tech signee Ryan White won all of their matches. login to post comments |
