A Peachtree City man has been arrested for bilking several victims for approximately $15,000 by arranging a celebrity golf tournament for charity that never occurred. Harry Steve Ritter, 54, of 100 Morallion Hills was arrested Friday after a fraud activity report was passed to the Peachtree City Police Department from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, police said. Ritter, who owns TeeShots, Inc., told victims the tournament would be held in the Bahamas in June and would benefit children, police said. Ritter was arrested on three counts of theft by deception; additional charges are expected as information from other suspected victims was recovered during a search of his residence, police said. Celebrities who were slated to attend included Atlanta Falcons head coach Jim Mora and actor Corbin Bernsen, police said. Mora was even convinced to provide a letter of endorsement for the tournament on Ritter’s behalf, police said. login to post comments |
