Westmoreland earning ‘do-nothingest’ labelTue, 09/26/2006 - 4:12pm
By: Letters to the ...
Your newspaper on Sept. 19 reported that our Congressman Lynn Westmoreland has declined to involve himself in the toxic chemical events related to the PSC facility in Fairburn, which has sickened hundreds of Fayette County citizens. He claims that Fulton County has the situation “in hand.” If Fulton County, Fairburn, the state of Georgia, and the federal EPA had the situation “in hand” there never would have been the creation of the Love Canal of Spence Road. Where other elected public officials have stepped up to the plate to investigate, expose, and assist, Mr. Westmoreland has not. He seems to want to protect the dubious honor that has been bestowed upon him as the “most do-nothingest” congressman of the current do-nothing Congress. Furthermore unless there is a commandment written somewhere that “thou shalt not poison,” he may well forget that since he seems to come up short on commandments. We appreciate the efforts of Congressman David Scott, Commissioner Dunn, and others who have really tried to help the citizens of Fulton and Fayette counties. Come election time, we will remember which candidates are serving the public interest, and those who are absent without leave. Juan Matute |
