Family and friends of Brandy and Riley Ressis will hold a fundraiser for the young mother and her four year-old son Sept. 30 at Wayside Park adjacent to the Palmetto Community Center on Roosevelt Highway. The purpose of the fundraiser is to help defray mounting medical expenses resulting from the incurable diseases suffered by Brandy and Riley.

The benefit will run from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. and will feature fried and grilled chicken sandwiches with either slaw or potato salad, chips, cake and a drink. Plates are priced at $6. And at 3 p.m. there will be a drawing for a quilt donated by Gail Turner. Tickets for the drawing can be purchased earlier that day for $2.

Brandy was recently diagnosed with Central Nervous System Vasculitis, a rare disease for which there is no cure. Riley was born with Vein of Galen disease, also a rare condition, where capillaries in his head are absent and one where the result was total disability.

“We would appreciate your support and feel sure you will receive a blessing from having helped this family with medical bills and other expenses,” said family member Shirley Smallwood. “We would like to say thank you in advance and we would like to thank the Palmetto Seniors Center for all their help.”

I would like to send a note to to Brandy. We have a Foundation for Central Nervous System Vasculitis located at www.cnsvfinc.org where you will find some useful information about Central Nervous System Vasculitis (CNSV). We have a wonderful support group and message board as well.
