Region 2-AAAA unkind to locals, Bobcats earn first win of season

Our Lady of Mercy wanted this one badly and they got it. The Bobcats scored the first two touchdowns of the game, had an extra point blocked and a two point conversion stopped to earn 12 points. They gave up a huge touchdown reception and a two point conversion right before the half and then stopped Towns County from adding anything else in the second half to secure the win.

Everybody else in the county didn't fare as well.

Whitewater fell to Creekside 33-12.

Starr's Mill lost to Westlake 38-31.

The McIntosh Chiefs were defeated by Banneker 23-16 in overtime.

Fayette County lost their match with Woodward Academy 29-22.

Yes, McIntosh did lose the game to Banneker in overtime. However, the Chiefs played with a lot of intensity and heart, and took the lead early in the game and couldn't hold on. Turnovers were key as McIntosh fumbled the ball four times in the third quarter, leading to two quick scores for Banneker. Despite all the critisizm, McIntosh continues to improve and always plays hard. You can't turn a program around overnight.

As a Wildcat fan, I must say the game against Creekside was a very good one. Don’t let the score fool you; it was 19-12 going into the 4th quarter. Our defense did a tremendous job once again, just had trouble getting pints on the board. Once again, those players that our coaches have said would be keys did their job, just felt short on the scoreboard.
Our so-called “super 11” players are still a no show, who picks these anyway? Not the coaches! And Eric Berry is the real deal, very talented athlete, although we held him in check compared to what he normally does; plus he ahs a very good supporting staff. We will have our hands full again Friday against Westlake, but our kids are up to the task.

It looks like Sandy Creek is posed for a very good season, congratulations on what you guys have accomplished so far, I expect to see you in the post season playing somewhere.
Starr’s Mill has two region losses, but we know better than counting them out.

Good luck to all coming up this week!
