Military

PTC Guy, you make very wrong assumptions about me. I am a vet and I have known some very fine high ranking military officers.

I can't argue with your examples of military bureaucracy because I know exactly what you are talking about. Anyone who has served in the military knows that. But, there is plenty of blame to share in that regard. The legislature, politicians and the voters who put them in office share in the responsibility of creating the bureaucracy.

With that said, I have a ton of respect and admiration for most military officers I've met in my life. It isn't true in every case, but most career military people do know how to get things done if given the opportunity. They have high standards, integrity and discipline. They are public servants in every sense of the word and I'm proud to have served with and for some of the best.

I cannot argue with a single point you said here.

Therefore we should both be on the same page here that being military does not automatically make Logsdon a fine candidate for mayor.

We simple do not know enough to declare Logsdon the best candidate. he is a big unknown.

I didn't think we were too far apart on our views.

Just know that the reason that I am voting for Logsdon has nothing to do with his military career or his qualifications. I honestly don't know the man. I'm supporting Logsdon because I DO know Steve Brown.

I've had the opportunity to meet and know every Mayor we've had since we were incorporated in 1959. I've kept up with the politics, I've done my research, and I've managed to sort through the BS. (And, by the way, there is a LOT of BS to sort through.)

With all of the good and bad, there is no doubt in my mind that Steve Brown was absolutely the worst Mayor that Peachtree City has ever had. He was just smart enough to be dangerous and tricky enough to convince a lot of people to trust him. He was destructive and an embarrassing representative of our community. Truth be told, I'd vote for Marilyn Manson before I'd vote for Brown and have 100% confidence that we would be better off.

People who really care about our community need to stay on top of things. Let's not let our next Mayor forget what we want him to do. Give him feedback. Show up at meetings, write letters, and keep blogging. We need to help him stay focused on setting priorities, leading City staff in the right direction, and holding himself and the City staff to higher standards.

I don't think Brown is the greatest Mayor material around. Far from it.

But what I do like is he is willing to take on some issues that were not politically safe many others would have turned a blind eye on. Such as the Tennis Center.

A very mixed bag. But at least one who does feel there are things worth taking flack over.

I, for one, would love to see those into such that somehow feel above challenge or confrontation brought down more often.

Really. It took arrogance and a feeling of knowing the PTC system to believe they could get away with it. Feeling the system here would never challenge them.

Brown has shaken up and stopped a lot of nonsense that obviously for a long time was considered business as usual. Has taken away money honey pot from several who didn't deserve or earn it.

But that is my feelings on the issue. I doubt you will ever share them.

Every one will just have to make up their own minds and vote their conscience on these issues.

Trust me, Brown is the WORST mayor. What was the issue with the tennis center you are talking about? Specifics will help with this. Who do you think is above challenge or confrontation, and how were they brought down and by whom? What makes you think that they are above it all? All Brown has done for PTC is ruin relationships with other governmental areas, screwed up the traffic, made totally inappropriate comments (boy who died in culvert). Let's get out to vote on the 6th of December and vote for the best man for PTC HAROLD LOGSDON!!!!

Yeah, you know how ya get a tune in your head and you can't quit singiing it?

Whenever I think of Harold Logsdon, I just can't stop singing that Motown great "I'm your Puppet." Yeah, he'll be dignified and neither he nor the citizenry will know what the hell is going on.

You don't have a clue about the Tennis Court issues, in example, and I am suppose to trust your opinion?

Specifics have been posted by others, including news articles.

Hmmmm. Been so busy attacking Brown you have not kept up with the facts of what is going on?

You really don't know what kind of Mayor Logsdon would be. An unknown comes out of nowhere as regards PTC and you just know he is great?

Might be. Might not be.

But you DO NOT KNOW FOR SURE!

Obvious you are not speaking from a position of knowledge. Which does not give any weight to your emotional declarations.

I am trying to be honest. Brown is imperfect. Logsdon is an unknown.

Brown has shown he will go after corruption. Will Logsdon?

Logsdon is the better politician. But will that make him the better Mayor.

We don't know!

I do have a clue about the tennis center, that's the problem. What are your problems with the center? The fact that all the pros have either been fired or quit because of Brown, or that the attendance has dropped a bunch, or what? The leak, that was caused by poor maintenance of the storm drain that got clogged up? Exactly what is your problem other than the above, most of which go directly to Brown.

Start here.

Then dig deeper. It smells the deeper you go.

The Tennis Center was not suppose to be self financing by old minutes where Brown asked why?

And the Tennis Center was suppose to get preference maintenance over Communities suffering stormwater issues for over 20 years?

Tell that to the people who flood or suffer other water damage.

At least under Brown this stormwater issue has gone from unaddressed to ready to implement.

No. You really don't have a clue.
