Closer To Closing PSC PlantFirst: Thank you Citizen Newspaper and Mr. Nelms for your continued reporting on this subject. Thank you for giving the citizens a "real" voice. This has been a difficult journey dealing with the toxic chemical situation PSC (Philip Service Corp)created in my back yard several months ago, but it is a fight that I and the many citizens affected will not give up. How much longer will it take for the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), local politicians, etc. to realize that hundreds of people have been poisoned and are sick... still sick? How much longer will it take for these agencies and in-active politicians, that are put in place to protect and serve the public, continue to ignore our many loud cries for help. Well, I am sure that these agencies and in-active and un-involved politicans want us to go away or just forget about the entire matter, but that is not going to happen - EVER!!!!! EVER!!!! Philip Service Corp (PSC) poisoned many people in the South Fulton and Fayette County area with chemicals that are known to be a carcinogen, suspected neurotoxicant and know to be some of the most hazardous chemicals to humans - 7 out of 10 in a ranking system. Many of us have experienced some or all of these symptoms: difficulty breathing, headaches, nausea, diarrhea, kidney damage, lung congestion, eye irritation, vomiting, symptoms of drunkenness, nose bleeding, etc. Our pets have been sick or either died as a result of this. Now, state and federal test results (in September 2006) show that the onion smell that came from the PSC plant contained 640,000 times the recommended levels of Proply Mercaptan. How strong was it back in May, June, July, etc. when we could barely breath? For several months now, we have been trying to tell our officials that the PSC plant was releasing chemicals in our community that made us very sick. This is why we won't go away, shut up or forget about it! This should have not happened but it did. We are sick, our children are sick and we have no idea of what the long term health effects are of these dreadful chemicals. "ALL" the responsible parties will be held accountable for what has happened in South Fulton and Fayette County. We will not stop until this dangerous plant (PSC) is out of our community and can no longer endanger our community with such dangerous and toxic chemicals. DO YOU HEAR US NOW!!!!! IF NOT, DURING ELECTION TIME WE CAN GRANT YOU A PERMENANT SEAT AT HOME! K. Sierra Leone |
