Former resident admits soliciting girl online

A former Fayetteville man has been sentenced to 180 days in a detention center after pleading guilty to arranging a sexual encounter online with a girl he thought was 14 years old who turned out to be an undercover police officer, police said.

Peter R. Seckinger, 45, who now lives in Reston, Va., pled guilty Monday morning to violating the Computer Pornography and Child Exploitation Act of 1999. He was arrested in September of last year as part of an ongoing Internet sting conducted by the Peachtree City Police Department.

Seckinger had arranged online to meet the 14-year-old girl for a sexual encounter at the Line Creek Nature Area, according to Peachtree City Police Chief James Murray.

Fayette County Superior Court Judge Johnnie L. Caldwell Jr. declined to sign off on the negotiated plea deal that called for probation instead of the detention center time, officials said. Instead, Caldwell sentenced Seckinger to an additional $2,500 fine and 10 years probation, all of which he will have to serve as a registered sex offender.

Seckinger’s company, Seckinger Design Associates, had an office in Peachtree City, Murray noted.

Seckinger was president of the company, according to the company’s web site.

A detention center is not a prison but instead is a secure location designed for non-violent offenders who work on local public works projects — such as maintaining public buildings, parks and land — during the day while they attend counseling, substance abuse treatment and education classes in the evening.

Mr. Git Real,

I watched you comment on so many things here, you are obviously well informed, even that Basmati's son plays BB at WHS. Can you comment on the Bruce Jordan situation?

Bruce has one appeal option, directly to the sheriff, and I don't see any changes there.

I doubt there will be any criminal charges, since the federal drug laws controlling use of these monies is fairly liberal.

It was obviously poor judgement on Bruce's part, and he is and will be paying for that dearly.

Any knowledgeable person in the field of law enforcement will tell you that Bruce is an extremely good investigator, so he has value still in Fayette County or any other area when it comes to law enforcement.

I have lived here for 62 years and I know a few "knowledgeable people in law enforcement". I have yet to hear from even one in or out of Investigations that likes or respects Lt. Jordan. I expect his pride will make him resign and become a cheif in a small town elsewhere.

I accept your opinion. I can't think of anyone in a public position that doesn't have enemies. It comes with the territory. If Bruce had folded to public opinion, he might not have been as effective as he has been in Fayette County. I think if you will look back over your 62 years, you might remember some good things Bruce has done for Fayette County. Maybe when the people you know in law enforcement tell you they don't like Bruce you could remind them of all he has done that was positive in Fayette County.

Janet,

No...I don't mind commenting. I'm sitting back watching the mud slinging take place between the two sides on this one. I'm waiting for more to come out that either takes Bruce down or exonorates him. From what I see right now it probably ain't fun being Bruce right now or possibly even in the future.

I still support the Sheriffs department whole heartedly. I know many individuals there that do their jobs with integrity and place our interests and the security of you and I at the top of their agendas. Take a look at what happened in New Orleans and see how evil and reckless many of those cops were. That was shameful. On the other hand there was a larger number of officers who performed their responsibilities with integrity and diligence. So I am no way blinded that corruption occasionaly exists in law enforcement.

It hurts to see this controversy evolve. In the end my hopes are that Bruce is not the bad guy that everyone seems to be making him out to be. And that perhaps it's all just a bunch of sour grapes. This however may not be the case and if so Bruce will need to be held accountable. Looking at it from here I would say that this may be getting real ugly with Bruce supposedly hiring the bottom dwelling trial lawyer Sexton to represent him. Guess he feels like he will need all the help he can get when Sexton pleas the alledged charges down for Bruce in front of their buddy Judge Johnny.

So honestly Janet I don't know how to comment on this for the most part. I'm wide eyed watching this spectacle unfold.

As per Basmati? Well I'm just trying to figure out how his son is a star bball player at WHS while attending McIntosh. Is that like double dipping or something? Does that mean it takes twice the amount of any other child to educate BW's son on the taxpayer's dole?

Finally. You stood up and trashed a stinky plea deal initiated by one of your trial lawyer supporters. It's about time. Perhaps these so called judges are getting the message that we are tired of their good ole boy home cookin' stinky plea deals that are brewed up to get this and other sexual child predators off the hook. But I have to wonder if ole Johnny's playing hardball because this guys out of state and it won't benefit him in any way to get this Seckinger fellow off. We already know one can get away with murder if your dating his daughter.

Guess we'll wait and see what the final sentence is. Great job Chief Murray and gang.

Good to see these people who take advantage of children get time to think about doing this type of thing. Just hope he never does it again or move to another state to do it.

As far as "get away with murder"? Who would "get away with murder" and date a judges daugther? Not someone else that works for the goverment I hope.

Judge Johnnie Caldwell's daughter was dating (or was it married to?) some loser named Huff.

Huff was driving drunk one night and stopped his car and a passenger in his car jumped out and killed somebody after an argument.

Huff was convicted of drunk driving but of course our own message board cancer Git Real thinks he shoulda been convicted of murder.

Get the story straight there ole masked one. You've got more homework to do to git the answers right.

The amazing part of this episode was the precise and efficient job he did in finishing his victim off. Very artful work with that blade wouldn't you say? Oh and yes I do think this guy should have been convicted of murder. Seems our DA might have been a little mushy on his prosecution. Some more of that good home cookin being brewed up.

Wow! The rice boy defending the good ole boys. Guess it goes to show that BW takes the stand opposite stand of Git Real no matter what the issue is. Arch enemies do that I guess.

By the BW.... the Message Board Cancer Git Real would like to know how your son's preparations for BB season is coming along at Whitewater?

Basmati: Typical Liberal

Basmati has the story all wrong. I don’t know how it came out, but the driver was the ex-husband and the stabber was the current boyfriend. I think you got it all messed up. Get the facts first. Where is the story on the archives? Liberals just jump out there and say stuff without getting the facts. And, oh yeah, throw in the insults, too. Does anyone have the real story ?

You are right. Rice had this one all wrong. It's amazing how this case got swept under the rug. It's all in who you know and who you owe around this place. Guess we're no different than anywhere else.

I don't think that's George Foreman of any era:) Unless it's one of his sons named George. When was that pic taken? He didn't look like that in the Ali era that I recall.

Do your homework in the Citizen Archives. Your conclusion should be that my comments are hardly libelous. Eye-wink
