The questions on everybody's lips before this game were, how good is Creekside's Eric Berry and will Starr's Mill be able to stop him? The answers were very good and a little bit.

Berry scored on the third play of the game, rushing 74 yards for a touchdown. He also scored the second touchdown of the game late in the first quarter on a 31 yard carry. In the second quarter, Berry intercepted a pass from Robby Davis and ran close to 50 yards for the third touchdown. Creekside scored once more before the half to take a 28-0 lead.

It was a different story in the second half with Starr's Mill putting together long drives and controlling the ball for 10 of the first 12 minutes. The Panthers got touchdowns from Branden Lewis and Terrell Tripp and Dante Cheeks made a number of drive saving catches for first downs. The defense also kept Berry quiet and Creekside's drives short. It wasn't enough to overcome the 28 point deficit though.

In addition to being handed a region loss, Starr's Mill also lost running back Brandon Witta early in the first quarter. Witta was in street clothes and on crutches by the third quarter. Starr's Mill's other top tailback, Greg Davis, was out of this game due to injury as well. Their status for next week is unknown at this time.

Creekside hosts Whitewater next Friday and Starr's Mill will play at Westlake.

I watched the game on the CSS coverage - it was excellent. Eric Berry is amazing. That being said, Starr's Mill had two 1000 yard rushers on the bench with injuries, yet if you give them the TD that was called back and take away just one of Berry's big play break aways or the interception TD and Starr's Mill could have won. Despite the score - Starr's Mill played a heck of a second half and outscored (and shutdown) Creekside 13 -0. Congrats to the Wildcats this week as well with the win against FCHS. My Pats and the other teams are begining to get the recognition we deserve here in Fayette. McIntosh and FCHS are playing hard and will get some respect as long as they continue to play hard. Good job Fayette County and McIntosh - keep up the work - love the Friday night lights in Fayette County! Now that's Old School Football!

I agree Eric Berry is amazing. But, I disagree that Starr's Mill had even a slight chance in hell against them. This game I believe was misleading to the viewers on just how good Eric Berry is. Yea, he scored 3 more TD's on his own and threw for one. He could have easily scored seven on this years Starr's Mill team. They're still a good program, but this looks to be a down year for them. They'll still make the playoffs, but then again they're in the creampuff league. If it was just them Creekside, and Whitewater then I wouldn't have room to say this. But since it's basically the same region SC was in last year, I can say this with confidence. The good teams are good, and the bad teams are horrible, or worse(in McIntosh's case). So expect early round exits by all the teams who make the playoffs from this region, except for maybe Creekside, because of the lack of competition. Trust me, at Sandy Creek we went through it for 4 years. It's one of the main reasons we never got any respect or anywhere in the post season. But this year with the new region with Carrollton, Carterville, Cedartown, and a suprising Cass team who's put up more than 40 points in each of their 3 games and outscored their opponents 140-37, it looks like if we do any good in this region then we'll definately get the long awaited respect that's been due to us for a while on the north side of town...and of course not to brag but we're the only team in the county to be ranked in the top 10. Consider Fayette county football to now be ran by Sandy Creek, we proved it to Whitewater(about the other blog about us beating them, there's no chance in hell it's going to be a friendly county rival, maybe with the other teams like McIntosh and Fayette County. But it'll never be friendly with Whitewater. We finally got some competition in the county and you better believe that there'll be massive hype in years to come, trash talk will be spoken, lives will be changed, and families will be split. Consider this a good ole' fashion hate game from now on out) and the JAMBOREE loss to Starr's Mill is just that, a JAMBOREE loss. If you were at the game you would have clearly seen our varsity march the ball up and down their field, keep in mind it was 20-6 when our varsity came out for good, that's all juniors and seniors, so our freshmen and sophomores blew the game. Point blank, don't mean to be mean to them but with a performance like that it shouldn't go unsaid.
