Three cheers for Greg Dunn for recognizing that TDK was a secret conspiracy to line the pockets of some wealthy developers. He has been true to his position on land planning all the way through. We’ll miss your leadership, Greg. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Yet another Harold Logsdon lie has been exposed. It was Logsdon who was trying to force the city’s hand on hooking Senoia onto our sewer. He said the Water and Sewer Authority was in financial distress. But now the truth comes out: No sewer increases are necessary for next year’s budget. What a scam! What is Logsdon getting out of his constant attempts to create massive developments in Coweta County beside campaign contributions? He needs to resign. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Mayor Logsdon is sending us down in flames. He gave us more excuses and more stalling over TDK at Thursday’s council meeting. Thank God the council opposed Logsdon’s efforts to run the sewer into Coweta now that we know what they were really planning to do. He tried to mislead us on the sewer, and he’s letting us all down on TDK. ---------------------------------------------------------------- I’m so sick of listening to people bash the TDK Extension. Who cares if the road is going to produce tens of thousands of cars on our roads? People have to live somewhere. I will agree it was unfortunate when certain people in our community failed to tell the truth about the road. Those types of idiots make everyone in real estate development look bad. Traffic will be worse, but show me someplace in metropolitan Atlanta where traffic isn’t getting worse. The same is true with crime. Real estate developers make things better, and people don’t appreciate that until they want to move to a new home. ---------------------------------------------------------------- The joke around town is the Fayette Chamber of Commerce’s “Business Expo” will be featuring new business and growth opportunities in east Coweta County this year. The Chamber will also be starting a new campaign to widen Peachtree Parkway to eight lanes to accommodate the new traffic. ---------------------------------------------------------------- We ought to be thankful Mike Hofrichter and Greg Dunn had the guts to say that the TDK Extension was a bad deal. Of course, they aren’t developers, which is probably why Jim Pace still favors the road and all its problems. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Here we go again, fib city! Our PTC mayor demanded that we expand our sewer into Coweta County or face horrible sewage rate hikes for ourselves. And now the sewer authority announces no rate increases for next year. Thank goodness the other council members had the guts to stand up to Logsdon and turn the sewer expansion down. ---------------------------------------------------------------- We need to rescue Peachtree City from the grips of ignorance, blunder and the domination of unabashed developer self-interest. E-mail the mayor (hlogsdon@peachtree-city.org) and tell him you don’t want anymore excuses. Tell him to stop the developer-take-all backroom deals. When the time comes, we need to get rid of Stuart Kourajian and Judi-ann Rutherford too. Their hiding from public view behind the mayor’s coattails is both spineless and embarrassing. ---------------------------------------------------------------- The patriot and the profiteer: One man answered the call. More than a decade ago, the storm clouds of corruption were brewing. The community of Fayette had become a thriving, family-oriented home to many. And many responded by making it even better. Planning: that was said to be the key. Plan the growth; plan the future. In 1995, two developer partners flipped a coin to see who would run for the Peachtree City Council, “to help out our company.” And so, with no one else to challenge him on the ballot, the Profiteer joined a couple of clubs, shook hands and awaited his anointment by King Bob. But then, stepping forward was the Patriot. A man who cared about the community and wanted no one to ravage the city’s plan for profit. He protested. He offered himself as a “write-in” candidate and shockingly received nearly one-half of the votes. Four years later he won an election to the PTC Council. He single-handedly opened up the government in PTC. This man was Dan Tennant. The Profiteer disregarded the shame of nearly losing to a write-in candidate. He and his friends gave lots of money to politicians. They acquired a state senator and a congressman. They bought obscure land. They told us that we needed to build a road to nowhere: “It is needed to reduce traffic.” And now, they are building a development one-third the size of PTC that will overwhelm the carefully crafted plan that even he, Jim Pace, took an oath to protect. Shame to those that deceived us. Praise to those that tried to save this community. ---------------------------------------------------------------- I am not a proponent of the Pathway development by any means but you might want to rethink your opposition. Coweta has done some really stupid zoning things in the past and they could easily rezone that land for a power plant, land fill or water treatment plant. With that said, 3,000 homes doesn’t seem too bad. ---------------------------------------------------------------- “All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.” We see some pretty discouraging activities at our local level. Between the road controversy and the sheriff’s scandal, this is not a good time in Fayette County. The above quote is actually a paraphrase, which among others, was derived from Edmund Burke, Irish philosopher, around the time of French Revolution. His actual quote is as follows: “When bad men combine, the good must associate; else they will fall, one by one, an unpitied sacrifice in a contemptible struggle.” This is indeed a time for good men (and women) to come together for the sake of our community. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Developers and builders, as a group, are really the lowest form of animal life, parasites. They come into an area, destroy flora and fauna with their heavy equipment, cover the raw soil with cracker box houses, shopping malls, and blacktop. They receive accolades for a postage stamp piece of land donated by them for a park or a school. They get more wealthy while the rest of us are left to pay for additional public services with our taxes, to cope with increasing levels of air and water pollution, to try to survive on the congested roads and freeways and to combat an ever-increasing crime problem. Two of the greatest offenders, Wieland and Rolader, are true parasites. Just as tapeworms and leeches suck an animal to death, these two charmers and their ilk have sucked Fayette County to death. Now Reese is starting on Coweta County. Mr. Reese, being a parasite is really not a great legacy. You cannot be proud of what you are doing or what you have become. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Peachtree City is quick to tout its 80-plus miles of cart paths but slow on the maintenance end. As a result, new paths are being created on the grass, setting a new (lesser) standard. Two such examples are on Log House Road and on Peachtree Parkway near the Braelinn Golf Club. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Was I the only one who noticed that the same 15 kids played the ENTIRE game at the J.C. Booth eighth grade game this Tuesday? Come on, coach. You have 40-plus boys who have worked hard for you all pre-season to make you proud, and you play the same players the whole game? There were a couple of players who never went off the field except for half-time. Let’s be sure we remember that this is eighth grade football. There must be more than 15 boys who deserve to play? Maybe we could have won or at least kept the game tied 0-0 if the same 15 players weren’t so tired at the end of the game. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Hey, Rising Starr football parents and Starr’s Mill band parents, here’s a thought: How about parking in the parking lot instead of the road? And while there, don’t park in the no parking zone near the gym. Traffic will move much more freely. ---------------------------------------------------------------- To the concerned citizens who suggested that Fayette County deputies use pepper spray in situations such as the recent, unfortunate incident when the dog was shot: Fayette County road deputies are not authorized to carry or use pepper spray. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Jeff Carter is a great example of an acorn not falling far from the tree. Mr. Carter, your opinion of Muslim leadership and/or religion is laughable considering that your father Jimmy caused the demise of a stable Iranian government to be replaced by the “Mad Ayatollah,” allowed our young people to be captured and held hostage by Iranian Muslims, and did his best to destabilize the Middle East. Jimmy is one of the biggest “blame America first” jerks in this country and is most remembered for his altercation with a rabbit and for his carpentry skills. I, for one, think that anything a Carter supports is worth fighting against “tooth and nail.” I do believe that Muslims have a right to practice their religion; but, I think we non-Muslims should organize a group of citizens to attend their religious services and cultural events. In doing this, we would learn about Islam and be able to monitor their speech and activities. By the way, Jeff, you are not invited to join the group. ---------------------------------------------------------------- I disagree with Mr. Carter that he supports the troops. Neither he nor the liberals such as John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Boxer, or John Murtha, just to name a few, support our troops. I don’t have friends, Mr. Carter, in the military; I have a son, who changed his career, like many, after the events of 9/11 in support of the American people. He has been there fighting this war on terrorism for the protection of the people of this great country. He has gone through rigorous training, long separation from his family, lived in conditions most of us would not allow our pets to live in, all for the safety of the American people. He has endured survival training and treated far worse than the inmates at Gitmo will ever know from our own military all in protection of his safety should he ever be captured. The derogatory remarks against Gitmo, the war, and the administration are used as political propaganda by the enemy against our soldiers. We are a nation with free speech and that is one of the things these young people are fighting to protect; however we are also at war. These young men and women who are sacrificing to protect our rights deserve our full support even if it means being more responsible about our comments. Outside of running your mouth, what have you done to support and protect our country? As a closing note I will add a comment made to me from my son on his return to the states. “These people want us dead, they don’t care how they do it, when or where, but because we do not believe as they do, they want us dead. We can fight them there or we can fight them here, but make no mistake we will fight them some place.” God help us all. ---------------------------------------------------------------- There is a tax law I would like to see changed. Right now it says that when a person turns 65 they no longer have to pay school tax, but for most people, when they turn 55, their kids are grown and gone. Most are doing their best trying to pay for their kids’ college at this time in their life. Therefore I would like to see the tax law changed so that when a person turns 55, their school tax decreases by 10 percent that year. When they turn 56, their school tax will decrease 20 percent. The following year would be 30 percent, and so on, so that when they reach the age of 65 they will zero out. Anyone else like that idea? ---------------------------------------------------------------- Our law enforcement officers are good at rounding up illegal aliens as indicated by the number of Latino arrests for “driving without a license.” Of course, if one drives with no license then if follows that one has no insurance and has not had a vehicle emission check. And, if one has no license, no insurance, no emission check and is an illegal alien, then does that not make him/her a criminal? Are these criminals held and then deported? Are their vehicles impounded and sold for scrap? How about answering these questions for all of us, you chiefs of local jurisdictions and Sheriff Johnson. Also, what do our religious leaders think they are going to accomplish by offering ESL to illegal aliens instead of advising them to leave this nation. A great number of our legal citizens seem to condone lawbreaking and criminal behavior when it suits their purpose. Anyone who works for and not against illegal aliens, anyone who tries to make it easier for illegal aliens, anyone who gives aid and comfort to illegal aliens, anyone who hires illegal aliens must be condemned for their immoral, unethical, illegal, and un-American behavior. ---------------------------------------------------------------- One question about universal healthcare: Will that include the world’s poverty-stricken millions who can slide by our immigration laws? ---------------------------------------------------------------- If smutty pictures or jokes create a “hostile workplace environment,” how about co-workers who can’t or won’t speak English? ---------------------------------------------------------------- Thumbs down to those who automatically defend the “diversity” of immigration. For example, illegal foreign nationals are taking construction jobs from my sons, because they work for a dime on the dollar of a decent living wage. That’s not diversity, that’s robbery ---------------------------------------------------------------- Thumbs up to our forefathers whose blood, sweat, and brains built America. Thumbs down to citizens who allow our leaders to turn it over to millions of immigration law-breakers. Yes, Mr. Employer, that’s you too! ---------------------------------------------------------------- It’s an impossible task to keep from offending the hypersensitive. ---------------------------------------------------------------- Here’s the “gut-level” method of gauging the number of illegal immigrants in your community: Has your boss told you to learn Spanish or else start singing the “pink-slip blues”? login to post comments |
