Sounding good

The Sandy Creek Band debuted their new show last Friday as Sand Creek hosted McIntosh. Last night, Sandy Creek played Whitewater. Look for results in the Sports section.

I agree, they did an outstanding job. I have heard all but McIntosh, all these schools have incredible bands.

They have the best uniforms I've seen so far.

You cannot base your judgement about which band is better based on uniforms. All the high school marchers in the county are going to do an excellent job when it comes to competition time so I hope that people will actually listen to the music they play rather than base their decisions on uniforms. Come to McIntosh on September 23rd at 5:30 so you can see and hear all of the Fayette County High School marching bands.

I am happy to learn that our Fayette County high school bands will be performing at McIntosh HS at 5:30 pm on Saturday, Sept. 23.

Those of us who do not currently have children attending these schools are never invited to attend their performances. We do pay school taxes, and all the other taxes that serve to educate them, and as members of the community we are proud of them and wish them well.

But the little ingrate and their parents never invite us.

Perhaps you can provide some details about what is scheduled to happen at McIntosh on Sept. 23. I suppose the program starts at 5:30 pm. I suppose there’s free parking available at the school and that the performances will be at the stadium, where seating will be available. I suppose there might be a reasonable fee to get in (but I wouldn’t know what the amount is). Presumably there will be a competition, with judges and grades. When the program might end, I don’t know.

An invitation with sufficient details to show it is sincere –not a general “y’all come and see us now, you hear”— would go a long way toward earning goodwill for the school system and its students, and it might in the end induce more generosity (financial support) toward them.

By checking out the info on McIntosh's Band web site, here is the info I can get. The competition on Sat, Sept 23 will be held at McIntosh High School. No fee for parking (not listed), fee is $3.00 for Adults $1.00 for kids. As best as I can tell, the four County Bands performing will be Fayette County High School, Whitewater, Sandy Creek & McIntosh. Seems to be "a local" competition & anyone can attend. I'm sure the Students would love to have a full house to perform in front of.
It begins at 5:30 and food will be available at concessions. Guess it was not advertised, maybe thought only Band people would want to come check it out. I am planning on taking my Family for what I can see as a great way to enjoy music & support these Students who I know work so very hard.

I think Starr's Mill is also performing. This exhibition has been advertised within the schools and on the Board of Education website. Everyone who reads this, please come and support us marchers who participate in one of the most overlooked sports.

Band quality is only as good as the directors and the management. Professionals rate these bands for music quality and that info is available. As to marching--that is another category. Uniforms do come into play in marching. Fayette County has always had a good band overall due to Mr. Beard.

If any of us have either Marched in a Fayette County Band, or has a Child currently Marching, we will say "Our School" is the best!
These Students work very hard for several month's to learn the music and the drill to perform a "show" and to compete in local & state competitions. I have read in local papers FCHS Marching Band is performing in the Rose Bowl Parade this year. Good for you, Way to Go!.
I have since learned that FCHS Marching Band is still in need of financial help from the community to help assist some of the Students to go on the trip. Come on Fayette County (as a whole) and let's help these kids. Let's make some "GOOD NEWS" to report or talk about. I'm willing to help, anyone want to join in on this?

Surely you are intelligent enough to realize I was commenting on how nice the McIntosh band uniforms are and how great they look as a group. I also commented on how great they are (sound). I made a nice comment. I'm not judging them against any other band. I didn't write-Oh, they look so much better than Starr's Mill, or Sandy Creek or Fayette Co. You must be extremely jealous of those uniforms to post such ludicrous statements, but then again I've seen crap like this from you before.

You said nothing about how their band sounded. You just commented on how they have a great band, this doesn't imply how they sound, and how their uniforms are. I'm sorry if I hastily made that assumption and would like to apologize. I thank you for being on of the minority out there who actually watches the bands' performances at half time. Also, what comments have I made like this before?
