At long last, Shamrock Park is going to get a make-over, with help from the town of Tyrone.

The Town Council Thursday night voted to spend much of the $18,000 recently received from the county for recreation for upgrading Tyrone’s downtown park.

Included in the upgrade is

• Demolition of the existing buildings.

• Removal and hauling away the existing fencing.

• Removal of the light poles.

• Replace the existing pavilion roof with a metal roof.

The rest of the money will be used to provide a waterline to soccer fields at Handley Park.

Councilman Paul Letourneau said he agreed with the list provided from town manager Barry Amos of the recreation priorities and believed all the additions would be good for the community.
