Can Anyone Give me Some Info?

We are looking to move from CT to the Fayetteville area in the spring. I'm looking for some info on good subdivision choices(middle priced)as well as differences, both pro and con to Fayetteville vs Newnan areas. Checking weather history, Newnan seems to be more humid than Fayettevile. Also looking for tax differences, crime rates etc. Thanks for your help.

Get in touch with a real estate agent and rent a home for a year before making your decision to purchase a home. There are many areas in Fayette/Coweta county that are excellent for you, being that your children are college age.

Within a year, you will get the feel of the area, check out the stats, and real estate developments. Just my opinion, do not rush to buy a home on the south side of Atlanta, take your time. If your job is not located on the south side of Atlanta, I suggest you check out the north side of Atlanta. Roswell, Alpharetta, and locations further north are absolutely beautiful, but the traffic is horrendous most of the time. With all the growth here in Fayette and Coweta county, I see the same potential in less than ten years, possibly earlier! Just my opinion.

What does it mean to you? Around Fayette County, I believe the average house is around $200-250k. There are some, even in decent areas, as low as $150. And of course you can spend more, as mentioned above.

I think your best bet is either Peachtree City or south Fayette County (out in the more rural areas). I don't know if you have kids, but for resale reasons if nothing else, I'd avoid any area that is in the Fayette County High School district.

In PTC, many people look to the northside because it is newer, etc. But there are some very nice houses in the Glenloch and Braelinn areas.

Thank you for the information. I only have college-aged kids, but the
resale value is something to keep in mind. Any comments about Quail Hollow, Stonebriar, Glen Grove or in Newnan Summergrove or Woodstream?

No matter where you move down here you will think it is awfully hot and humid in the summer - because it is. Nevertheless, look at Peachtree City first. Not sure what is middle price range up there in CT, but here you can be on the golf course for $350,000 and on or near the lake for $5-600,000. Just be sure you avoid the area west of Hwy. 74. Look in Braelinn, Kedron and Glenloch Villages. Whitewater Creek, just outside Peachtree City is very nice.

We moved from Suffield CT many years ago. Although we miss CT, the area is very nice. We live in Fayetteville, but I don't think you could go wrong with any of this area. All the area is changing and if I were to move right now I would probably pick either Newnan or Tyrone. Peachtree City is very nice, but a lot more restricted in what you can do, but that keeps it a nice area to live in. Fayetteville is nice, but changing and not much to do or good places to dine. Decent recreation department, but they all do. Tyrone is small town but very nice, Newnan is growing at leaps and bounds with lots of activities and places to dine and a mixture of old homes and new. Price of housing is pretty much the same in all four areas, Jan Trammel is a great person to ask for help in that department. Schools will not be what you are use to in CT. I had a really hard time with that. They are not bad, but not even close to what you are use to. I suggest you come for a visit and if you have to move I would seriously consider renting a year before you decide on which area. But overall I don't think you will go wrong in any of the four towns. Good Luck
