Dead man likely suspect from PTC robberies

A man shot and killed by police in Cobb County Tuesday is likely the same person who committed two armed robberies in Peachtree City last month, police said.

Christopher Shane Mosley of East Point was shot during a standoff after charging police who were attempting to arrest him for another robbery, this time of a consignment store, according to media reports.

Peachtree City Police Chief James Murray cautioned that the identity has not yet been confirmed, but was pending confirmation of two key details.

Murray said that based on several photos of Mosley, he is pretty sure Mosley was the same person who robbed The Herb Shop and the Marble Slab Creamery in Peachtree City.

One of the photos was from Mosley’s current driver’s license; the other is from when he was in a Texas prison about 11 years ago, Murray said, noting that Mosley’s lips are “very distinctive.”

Since the Marble Slab Creamery robbery, officers have been conducting surveillance at local stores expecting the robber to strike again, Murray said. That operation tapped the department’s resources but was necessary, especially in hindsight after seeing how Mosley died: while challenging police officers with a gun, Murray said.

Police talked with Mosley’s father Wednesday and confirmed that Mosley suffered from a drug problem, which would explain why he targeted small stores that would likely have cash on hand, Murray said.

Clarence Darrow said it best: "I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure."

Once again. A drug problem rules someones life and ends it too. A person tries drugs, get addicted to drugs and feels like they need to hold people at gun point to get money for drugs. It stinks when someone lets drugs control their lives that much and treaten the lives of others to get that high. If in fact that is the reason he did this.

He's cooling on a slab now as well.

"A man shot and killed by police..."

It's a bit derogatory to the rest of the human race for us to refer to this refuse from the scrap-heap of life as a man, but I guess we are kind that way.

Peace

Everything I've heard has said it *is* the guy. But I just want to say... why no mention of this being the guy who ALSO did the armed robbery at the Herb Shop in Fayetteville? And the robbery at Blimpies? The victims in those robberies deserve to be recognized (and relieved), too.

I am glad this one was pulled. I am really surprised that this one got through your filter. This is the only thing that sweetpea and I can agree on, this was way over the top.
