The commissioners in FAYETTE COUNTY voted not to have regional Xpress Coach Service operate in their county. This of course would reduce the number commuters driving alone everyday crowding their arterial roads. Therefore, until some traffic relief in the form of mass transit is accepted, then congestion will only continue to be a growing unsolvable problem. Xpress Coach Service transfers free into MARTA. It's commuting made easy.

Traffic is a problem. However the number of cars on the road isn't the real issue. Have you ever been able to make it through Fayetteville,Riverdale or PTC without getting stopped by at least four lights wich seem to last 10 minutes? Too many stop lights in a short space.

I love the argument that goes, “if you don’t like the commute, you should move”.

When I moved to PTC my commute was 20 minuets shorter, one way, than it is now.

People don’t quite seem to get the fact that the volume of vehicles traveling on 74 has doubled in the last five years alone. The GADoT puts the volume at around 25,000+ vehicles per day. That’s up from some 12,500+ when PTC did its last traffic study in 1999.

I’ll just wait for the GRTA to cut off our Federal money for road improvements. Then we’ll only be about 20 years away from having the road system that we’re already supposed to have.

Then again I’d be willing to bet that those that are yelling “NO” the loudest only have to commute to the tennis center two or three times a week. That’s after they drop there kids off at the daycare because they can’t get their nails and hair done or play golf with the “kids hanging around”.

I will never change my mind about this issue. I think we will be better off if we can keep all forms of this type of transportation service out. Even if it starts small, it tends to get "bigger" once it's in place. And besides, I think the difference in traffic congestion because of having that option here would be so small that 99% of us would probably never be able to tell a difference. A better approach is to do what we can to hold down decisions that will make the traffic worse, like trying to defeat TDK.

Are you on crack? Yeah, that's what we need...the busses from College Park keep coming down Ga. 85. My husband has an 80 mile round trip commute...We'd both rather live with that than public/mass transit here in Fayette County. By the way...duck. When the other bloggers get home, you'll be bombarded. Most people here would never go for this idea.

You can't have it both ways...if you want an easy trip to work, live in midtown. If you want suburban idyll...you'll be commuting to work. The two can't mix...you get Riverdale all over again.

You're misreading the post. If you have a GRTA Xpress pass you can transfer to MARTA bus or rail service without paying additional fares. So simmer down.

Regardless, Xpress runs all the way out to Douglasville and Newnan. It's a commuter line which is a major difference compared to MARTA which is a local transit line.

The 20-year plan for the 74/85 interchange has a planned park-and-ride lot for GRTA anyway.

discussion about this a few weeks ago. Why not have a blog poll - but only those that leave the Bubble daily and commute to Atlanta can vote
