The McIntosh Chiefs volleyball team continues to play good ball.

Last week, they hosted a meet between themselves, East Coweta and Tri Cities. McIntosh won both matches in two sets.

The Chiefs came out strong against east Coweta, blanking the Indians 15-0, while the next match was more hotly contested. The Chiefs won the second match 15-9.

Kristi Oates led the scoring for McIntosh with seven points and four aces. Stacy Quinn scored six points, Heather Dockstader added five and Vanessa Contreras notched four points.

Against Tri-Cities, it was more of the same. McIntosh won both matches, 15-4 and 15-2. Contreras and Dockstader each scored seven points. Contreras's points all came off aces. Megan Bartels had six kills in the win.

McIntosh then had a week to prepare for a tri-meet between Newnan and Stockbridge.

The first match against Newnan was a battle, but the Chiefs edged out a 15-11 win. The second match was not as close, as McIntosh won 15-4. Kathryn Murphy led all scorers with 10 points and Whitney Wallis and Amanda Vonderhaar played great defense to secure the wins.

The Chiefs then jumped all over Stockbridge, winning the first match 15-1 and the second match 15-7. Murphy scored 10 points again and Dockstader added eight.

The Chiefs then had only a day to prepare for a meet against Starr's Mill and Padeia, played after the paper went to press.

The Pace Christian High School Panthers opened up their volleyball season last week with a pair of victories. Monday, they defeated Harvest Christian in three matches, 15-6, 13-15, 15-9.

The Panthers also won over Community Christian Thursday, 15-3, 15-5. The Panthers are coached by Marla Smith, who is in her second year as head coach, assisted by Raechel Nebergall.
