Evangelist Rick Bonfim will lead 4-day revival at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church

Evangelist Rick Bonfin, with ministries in both Brazil and the United States, will be the featured speaker at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church's revival scheduled for Sunday through Wednesday, Aug. 29-Sept. 1 in Newnan. This will be Bonfin's second appearance at Jones Chapel. He is a general evangelist with the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Bonfim has a B.S. in psychology from Valdosta State College, an M.A. in speech communications and journalism from the University of Georgia, and a M.Div. from Emory University. He lives in Athens with his wife, Mary Lucy.

Rick Bonfim Ministries began 38 years ago when, at the age, of 15, Bonfim was ordained in the Brazilian Methodist Church. Ministries in Brazil include a seminary, a medical clinic and a shelter for the hungry. The organization focuses on revival of the Holy Spirit in both Brazil and the United States.

“This ministry's main purpose is to bring healing and wholeness in Jesus Christ our Lord,” Bonfim says.

Jones Chapel's pastor, John Freeland, says he has seen this healing in action. “I have seen people's backbones moving back into place,” Freeland says. “I have seen arthritis miraculously and instantly healed during Rev. Bonfim's revivals.”

Several of Jones Chapel's members also commented on last year's services. “The Holy Spirit really works through him,” said member John Davis.

Member Ann Hester adds, “When he gives an altar call, people don't even stop to think. They just run right up there. I can remember thinking that I was going to miss out on something if I hesitated.”

Two revival services will be held Sunday, Aug. 29, one at 11 a.m. and another at 7 p.m. Weekday services, Aug. 30 through Sept. 1, will begin at 7 p.m. A nursery will be provided.

Jones Chapel United Methodist Church is located at 2331 North Hwy. 29 in Newnan. For more information, call 770-253-0760.
