Despite a big crowd opposing Fayetteville’s proposed annexation of a 108-acre tract on Redwine Road, the city’s Planning and Zoning Commission voted Tuesday to recommend approval of the annexation to the City Council.

Twenty years ago, Democrat Gary Hart was sweeping the nation as he ran for president. Even die-hard Republicans were being pulled into Hart’s campaign. Many Americans liked the ideas of this man and pledged to vote for him. Then came the news that he’d had an affair with a woman named Donna Rice. When this scandal hit the press, his campaign went downhill and eventually Hart pulled out of the race.

Starr’s Mill comes up short in deciding game

The Starr’s Mill Panthers varsity baseball team made their second trek up I-85 to Parkview High School Thursday for the third and deciding game of the AAAAA quarterfinals. Though they took an early lead, Starr’s Mill lost 6-4 to close out their 2004 season.

Atlanta summers heat up each Thursday with Thursday Thunder, Atlanta Motor Speedway’s 10-week Legends, Bandolero and Thunder Roadster racing series. One of the most affordable family activities in Atlanta, Thursday Thunder is a bonanza of games, contests, giveaways and exciting racing. The 2004 season is set to kick off its seventh year of competition Thursday, June 3.

FCHS band to hold fundraisers for trip to London

The award-winning Fayette County High School Tiger Marching Band is going to London to participate in the 2005 New Years Day parade. This is an incredible educational opportunity for these students and the FCHS Band Boosters are conducting a variety of fundraisers to help these dedicated youth take the trip of a lifetime. The cost of the trip is astronomical and through these fundraisers and community support the Boosters are endeavoring to reduce the cost of the trip for the over 150 students wishing to participate.
