Be gracious in receiving gifts

Holiday advertisements are full of gift ideas and suggestions. Retailers know what you and I know only too well: one of the biggest challenges of Christmas is what to get those special people on your gift list. The ones who already have everything they need. The ones who, upon needing something, have the financial means to go out and buy it for themselves. The ones who never seem to like anything you ever give them. The ones who don’t ever do anything and therefore provide no clues as to what to get them.

LDS Church sponsors community Christmas program

“Festive in Fayetteville” is the theme of the community Christmas program planned for Sunday, Dec. 21, from 5-7 p.m. at the Fayetteville Christmas tree near the gazebo in Heritage Park, downtown Fayetteville.

Hugh Waddy to present concert

Hugh Waddy, organist at National Heights Baptist Church in Fayetteville, will present a piano concert of Christmas music tonight, Dec. 17, beginning at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

Brooks UMC choir to perform cantata Sunday

Members of Brooks United Methodist Church will present their Christmas cantata Sunday, Dec. 21, at 7:30 p.m., entitled “Many Moods of Christmas,” and written by Robert Shaw.

Christ the King plans Christmas Eve Communion

Christ the King Charismatic Episcopal Church in Sharpsburg will have a Community Christmas Eve Communion service Wednesday, Dec. 24, at 7 p.m.
