Landmark boys and girls rule Class A cross country meet once again

Landmark Christian School and Our Lady of Mercy were neck in neck in cross country this year. In the final meet of the season, it was Landmark that emerged triumphant in both the boys and girls races at the state meet, both taking home the state title. Our Lady of Mercy’s boys placed second overall while their girls squad placed sixth.

In the Class A boys race, each school had six runners in the top 50. Landmark’s top finishers were Robert Jones, 2, 16:49; Will Bonn, 4, 17:24; Brett Lewis, 14, 18:21; Bobby Weaver, 20, 18:31; Michael Fritz, 24, 18:51 and Jacob Parker, 46, 19:47. The top finishers for Our Lady of Mercy were Zach Lethbridge, 7, 17:46; Ryan Schilling, 16, 18:26; Jay Santha, 21, 18:50.24; Matt Pamas, 23, 18:50.95; Pat Supar, 25, 18:52 and Mark Johnson, 42, 19:43.65.

The Landmark girls had seven runners in the top 50: Caroline Jones, 2, 20:22; Hope Hurst, 6, 21:36; Kristina Eden, 7, 21:44; Ciara Willis, 22:34; Cristina Vera, 17, 22:53; Mary Michael Joiner, 18, 22:54 and Jessie Thames, 28, 23:38. Our Lady of Mercy’s two runners in the top 50 were Marina Fleming, 14, 22:36 and Samantha Jumper, 29, 23:40.

In Class AAAAA boys, Starr’s Mill placed eighth while Fayette County placed 16th and McIntosh placed 17th. Starr’s Mill had three runners in the top 50: Daniel Shankle, 19, 16:44; Austin Enriquez, 38, 17:12 and Sankar Sridaran, 50, 17:25. The top finisher for Mcintosh was Alberto Jensen, 59, 17:30, while Fayette’s top finisher was Nathaniel Foster, 64, 17:40. 15.

In the Class AAAAA girls race, McIntosh placed 15th and Starr’s Mill placed 19th. The top runners in the race were Fayette County’s Claire Bergstrom, 14, 19:38; McIntosh’s Emily Borsare, 23, 20:06 and Starr’s Mill’s Kristin Olson, 86, 21:54. Sandy Creek’s boys placed 19th in the Class AAAA boys race. They had two runners in the top 100: Andrew Henry, 55, 18:01 and Matt Ayers, 64, 18:06. Sandy Creek’s Alexis Blackburn placed 22nd in the Class AAAA girls race with a time of 21:03.
