Kedron Target protestors have broad support in PTC

Regarding Tyler Wells’ “Target Protestors Misfire with Clueless Objections” [The Citizen, Oct. 22].
You, Tyler Wells, clearly seem to be the one who is “ignorant and uninformed” in regards to the opposition of the proposed development for the Kedron Village Phase 2. You obviously have not been to any of the Peachtree City Planning Commission meetings because if you had you would not have written such a pointless and audacious letter.
The 600 you refer to are citizens of Peachtree City who signed a petition opposing the conceptual site plans main entrance that is directly across from their subdivision, the only way in and out of their neighborhood, out of concerns for their families and the community. The majority of those people knew about the proposed development when they bought in the area but the original site plan did not have a “Big Box” on it. For your information, Peachtree City has a big box ordinance and what good is an ordinance if it is not enforced?
There are hundreds more citizens that are concerned about this enormous development in addition to the 600 “minute number of people” you refer to. It is just your opinion that these people are the “small minority.” Do you really think that these people are opposing this development because they want to “punish Peachtree City and Fayette County”? Ha. If anything, they are of benefit to the city.
Everywhere you look nowadays, urban sprawl is consuming our environment at an alarming rate. It is so comforting to know there are people who care enough about the environment and its citizens to do something about it and whose primary concern is not how much money one such development will reap but the ramifications that irresponsible development can bring forth, including crime, pollution, dangerous traffic, etc. I admire these people and the Committee for the Responsible Development of Kedron Village Shopping Center. They are not opposed to the development. They just want it done responsibly.
You may be fresh out of grease, Tyler Wells, but this squeaky wheel will not be ignored. Move to Fayetteville or Newnan if you want to live near a Target.
