PTC Planner gave biased view

I was appalled by the presentation made by Peachtree City’s City Planner at the planning commission meeting Oct. 13. I was expecting to hear a very factual presentation on the proposed Target/Kedron Shopping Center development. Instead, I listened to what I would characterize as the most biased and unethical presentation I have ever heard.
Abraham Lincoln in his Gettysburg Address stated that we have a “government of the people, by the people, and for the people.” Unfortunately, the planning office has forgotten this. Their duty should be to protect the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Peachtree City while following the village master plan.

This master plan does not call for a regional shopping center at the Kroger Village. Faison, the developer, can build a smaller Target with other stores that will comply with the big box ordinance. Adding a north-in and north-out cut-off on Ga. Highway 74 into the development is a must. Also eliminating any extension of Regents Park into the development is critical in protecting the health, safety and welfare of the surrounding communities.
The recently defeated proposal will now go on to the City Council where it must be defeated again. I am asking Faison to submit a new site plan to the Planning Commission. This plan should eliminate the extension of Regents Park and downsize the proposed buildings and parking areas. If this were to occur, we would all welcome the Target development to our community.

I would hope that Faison and all the city officials could amicably come up with a solution that would meet the needs of the people.
