Patriots win big again The storys getting repetitive for Sandy Creek. Each of the past five weeks has seen the same result the Patriots win, and they win by a lot. The latest victim was the Lithia Springs Lions, who came to Tyrone and watched the home team explode for 33 first-half points on the way to a 46-13 win. Phillip Hyde ran for 192 yards in the first half, scoring three times. He ran 61 yards for a touchdown midway through the second quarter, then ran 53 yards to the 1 later in the period, setting up his own touchdown. He never stepped on the field in the fourth quarter, finishing the game with 221 yards on 17 carries. Dusty Bennetts passing numbers were interesting. He only attempted five passes and completed three, but all three resulted in touchdowns. His 16-yard pass to Robert Broughton put the Patriots on the board in the first quarter, after Lithia Springs had jumped out to a 7-0 lead. He then threw a 20-yard scoring pass to Calvin Johnson in the second period to make it a 27-7 game. Bennett and Will Judson connected on a 57-yard touchdown strike in the third quarter to make it 40-13. Reggie Ellington closed out the scoring in the final period with a 4-yard run. The smallest margin of victory so far for the Patriots (5-0, 4-0) is 24 points, in the season opener against Fayette County. They have outscored their opponents overall by a whopping 194-36. Landmark: Hosting Carver of Atlanta, the War Eagles scored all of their points in the first half and rolled to a 42-6 win Friday night. The team rang up 379 yards of total offense, led by 225 passing yards from Alex Mortensen, who only played the first half. Eric Worrell caught five passes for 144 yards and three scores, and Miles King also had a touchdown reception. Dylan Hanes ran for 80 yards and two touchdowns. Worrel now has more than 500 receiving yards on the season, and Mortensen has passed the 1,000-yard mark in total offense. David Morris led the defense with 11 tackles, along with a sack and a forced fumble. Zech Glaize and Blaine Gable also recorded sacks, while Worrell and Adam Lewis each picked off a Carver pass. The Landmark defense allowed just 4 rushing yards in the first half and 60 for the entire game. Starr's Mill: The Lovejoy Wildcats, ranked in the top five in the state in AAAAA, were too much for the Panthers Friday night, scoring 21 first-quarter points on their way to a 47-28 victory in a region game. Starrs Mill finished with 334 yards of total offense and had some early offensive explosions of its own, scoring two touchdowns late in the second quarter to tie the game at 28 by halftime. But Lovejoy quarterback Kisan Flakes threw for 279 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Wildcats to victory. Kyle McCreary led the Panthers with 109 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Cody Smith ran for 99 yards and scored twice. McIntosh: It was a long ride back from Columbus after Friday nights 41-20 loss at the hands of region foe Carver, which is still in the hunt for a playoff spot. The Chiefs had a few spectacular plays, as Devin Lemons returned a kickoff 91 yards to set up a score and quarterback Taylor Lee raced 80 yards for a touchdown on their next possession. Both of those scores were in the first half. Our Lady of Mercy: The Bobcats lost 35-3 to Blessed Trinity, which won its third game in a row. Fayette County: The Tigers fell to 0-6 with a 19-11 loss to Creekside.
