Is God really OK with sexual sin? I think not This letter is in response to the letter by Jeff Ellis [The Citizen, Aug. 14]. Jeff stated that just as white people finally started to accept black people for who they were instead of rejecting them for the color of their skin, that we should also accept gays in the same manner. Jeff stated that God is a loving God who loves all of us just as we are. I would like to state that God is a loving God no matter what we are, but God is very clear in His word about how He views sexual sin. God made each and every one of us in "His image" (Gen. 1:26). It doesn't matter if we are black, yellow, white, red or green for that matter. It was never our choice, but God's choice about what color we are. However, it is our choice in regards to sexuality, whether we choose to be homosexual or heterosexual. Whether we choose to wait until marriage to have sex or sin against God by fornicating. God meant for sexual relations to be a blessing from Him, but we and the world have turned it into lust and passion for ourselves, which is a sin against God. God specifically states (1 Cor: 6:9), "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God." In Romans 1:24-32, "Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature (ourselves) rather that the Creator... For this reason God gave them up to vile passions... Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful. God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting, being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness...." How in the world can we be so ignorant? Please, please, please, forgive us, Lord, for watering down your Word to fit our lifestyles and making ourselves "feel good" rather than fitting our lifestyles to your word. People, wake up. Let us read all of God's Word for what it truly says instead of adding or subtracting from it or only reading what we want to. God promises you blessings for being obedient or you can choose to be deceived or deceitful. Let us seek truth, for there is only one Truth, Jesus Christ! He will always forgive if we seek Him and turn from our wicked ways. Let's go after His Truth and His Way instead of our own. Lynn Hutchison Fayetteville, Ga.
