teams in action this weekend
As the county's
high school softball teams get ready to take the field this weekend
for the first games of the 2003 season, some will find themselves trying
to duplicate some impressive results from last season.

martial artists shine at Jr. Olympics
Tiger
Martial Arts in Fayetteville, working to build Olympic champions in
tae kwon do, was well represented at a recent Junior Olympics competition
in Orlando.

stand out at three meets
As has often been
the case this season, members of the Southside Pioneers Track Club recently
posted top performances at more than one event simultaneously
Falcons
start high school schedule in Fayette
The
high school football season kicks off this weekend in Fayette County,
although not in a way most fans are accustomed to seeing it.
Tigers
take World Series title
The
Georgia Tigers, a team of 13-year-olds that plays out of Handley Park
in Tyrone, recently capped off an outstanding year of baseball with
a trip to Clearwater, Fla., where they finished first in the International
Baseball Championship World Series.
