Prevent boat dock nastiness

We have an opportunity to prevent a tragedy in Peachtree City and a black eye on our community's name.

At the gathering near the boat dock on the 4th, an arrogant group began yelling at a young family for taking up a small space near the spot they'd reserved for their two golf carts and several lawn chairs. We invited the four intimidated-looking folks to sit with us, averting further nastiness.

On the way out, tempers (some alcohol-fueled) were short as carts tried to move out of the area. Shouting and beeping horns at pedestrians was the order of the day. Had violence broken out, police could not have responded for many minutes.

My proposal is that we allow no golf carts in that area next year. Rather, have people park at Booth Middle School and make a short walk to the area.

This way, police would be the only golf cart presence [and would] be able to keep citizens safe. What we have now is the equivalent of allowing cars onto concert grounds (such as Chastain) with no organization.

It is a ludicrous survival-of-the-boldest that is bound to result in injury to someone. Please, let's be proactive and keep the Peachtree City fireworks a fun and safe Independence Day activity for all.
