After great parade,
let's support Battle of Bands
By all estimates, the parade involvement figures were probably the largest in the city's history. Special recognition goes to Susan Taylor from our city staff for her heroic effort as our parade coordinator. Governor Perdue was very impressed by the large showing and the large number of golf carts that were utilized by the spectators and parade entrants. It was truly an honor to have two of Peachtree City's own Iraqi Freedom veterans as grand marshals, Army Major Mike Huth and Marine Lieutenant Colonel Paul Deluca. A special thanks also goes to all the spectators for their cooperation in making this the safest parade in recent history. Many of you in attendance probably received a flyer from the Peachtree City Youth Council regarding the 2003 Battle of the Bands. The concert will be held on July 12 from 7 to 10:30 p.m. at the Fredrick Brown, Jr. Amphitheater. The teenagers in our community were given an opportunity to plan an event that would appeal to citizens their age. The bands are lined up and it should be a great evening. A special thank you goes to the officers of our Peachtree City Police Department that volunteered to work the concert so that the Youth Council could offer a safe and inexpensive event for our teenagers. I hope that you will encourage your teenagers to attend this concert event. For more information go to www.peachtree-city.org and click on Battle of the Bands or call 770-631-7712. The Battle of the Bands is a great way to provide entertainment for the teens in Peachtree City and Fayette County. The Youth Council is to be commended for being proactive and taking it upon themselves to produce entertaining and safe events. Let us show them that we care enough to support their efforts.
