Goody moves to Cobb

One of Peachtree City's companies is pulling up stakes and heading to Cobb County.

Goody Products, one of the world's largest hair implement manufactures, is closing its office in Westpark Friday and moving to the Cobb Galleria.

"The only reason we're leaving the county is space," said company president Howard Heckes.

Goody has been in Peachtree City since 1995 and employs 70 people. The company had outgrown its present facility and has been leasing space across the street.

"We'll have all our people in one place and be able to display our products," Heckes said.

The company's new building has 36,000 square feet, compared to the 21,000 in Peachtree City.

Heckes said the company looked all over Fayette County and could not find a suitable building.

"We went on a pretty exhaustive search, and even considered downtown Atlanta, but this was the best fit," he said.

Heckes said all the company's employees are moving to the Cobb location, and he expects the new facility to be operational Monday.
