World Airways links Atlanta with Nigeria

Peachtree City-based World Airways last week began nonstop flights between Atlanta and Lagos, Nigeria, capital of the most populous nation in Africa.

Under the contract with Ritetime Aviation and Travel Services, Inc., World Airways will provide weekly non-stop air services from both Atlanta and JFK International Airport in New York to Lagos.

The JFK departure is planned for June 1. The company will also begin flying between Houston and Lagos Aug. 5. The program will utilize an MD-11 passenger aircraft, and the initial contract is scheduled through Dec. 30 with a possible extension through 2004.
