Chick-fil-A wins chamber award The Chick-fil-A restaurant at Fayetteville Towne Center, led by owner/operator Doug Barnett, has been named the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce's Business Partner of the Year. The award is given to a local small business which demonstrates community involvement and support of local schools. Since opening his Chick-fil-A restaurant at Fayetteville Towne Center in December 2001, Barnett has built relationships with 11 area elementary, middle and high schools, including Peeples, Sara Harp Minter, Spring Hill, Brooks, Cleveland, East Fayette, Whitewater, Rising Star, Starr's Mill and Whitewater. His Fayetteville Chick-fil-A hosts regular Spirit Night celebrations, where the restaurant donates 10-percent of its sales garnered during the particular evenings to schools and other local organizations. They also sponsor sporting teams and clubs by donating food and money. Through his numerous activities he has raised more than $30,000 for schools in Fayetteville and south Fayette County. Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A, Inc., the nations' third-largest quick-service chicken restaurant chain, currently has more than 1,090 restaurants in 36 states and Washington, D.C. Chick-fil-A serves nutritious food products in malls, free-standing units, drive thru-only outlets, Chick-fil-A Dwarf House and Truett's Grill full-service restaurants, and through licensed outlets in college campuses, hospitals, airports, businesses and industrial sites.
