Young Life of Fayette County Seeks Golfers and Pledges for "Longest Day of Golf Marathon" Young Life of Fayette County is seeking golfers with a lot of heart and stamina to play 54 holes of golf in one day during its first annual "Longest Day of Golf Marathon" May 15 at Whitewater Creek as a fundraiser for the local Christian youth organization. The concept of the golf marathon is a fun twist on the walk-a-thon fundraiser: golfers who wish to play in the marathon ask friends, neighbors and others to pledge a nominal dollar amount for each hole the golfer completes. Suggested amounts are $5, $2 or $1 per hole, up to a maximum of 54 holes for the day. Participating golfers only have to commit to raising at least $540 in total pledges to play in the marathon. In exchange for this commitment, players will be treated to three rounds of golf (54 holes) with cart on Whitewater Creek's championship course, a box lunch, several nice "thank you" items, and a dinner/reception at the end of the day. It's the ideal opportunity for a foursome of friends or business colleagues to team up for three rounds together. All donations and money collected from pledge sponsors are tax-deductible. "We recognize golf is one of the most popular recreational activities in Fayette County. This is a great way to play a lot of golf on a fantastic championship course and raise money to help our county's most important asset our youth," said Jeff Cole, area director for Young Life of Fayette County. "This will be one of our most important fundraisers all year so we need golfers in our county to join us to play golf for these kids. And we ask those who can't play to support those golfers."
