McIntosh, Starr's Mill take golf crowns

McIntosh and Starr's Mill split the top team spots in last week's region golf tournaments at Whitewater Country Club.

The Panthers won the boys title with a score of 311, four shots ahead of East Coweta. McIntosh finished third at 329, followed by Newnan (344), Fayette County (353) and Lovejoy (380).

Jordan Carpenter of Starr's Mill shot a 72 to finish as the low medalist. Mitsuki Shimba (75), Seth Hickey (81) and Evan Scanlan (83) helped the Panthers pick up the win.

The Lady Chiefs won the girls title with a score of 172. Starr's Mill came in second. Jean Reynolds of Newnan was the low medalist with a 75.

The state championships are scheduled for Monday at Jekyll Island.
