Panthers take third in region track

The Starr's Mill Panthers matched their female counterparts from a week earlier, finishing third in the boys' half of the Region 5-AAAAA track championships.

Riverdale won the meet with 107 points, followed by Carver-Columbus at 81.5 and Starr's Mill at 81. The remainder of the field consisted of Newnan (77), Lovejoy (63), McIntosh (38), Fayette County (33) and East Coweta (15.5).

Here is a list of the athletes from county schools who scored points in the meet by finishing in the top six in an event:

100-meter dash Michael Brownlee, Fayette County, sixth.

400-meter dash Mitch Sargent, Starr's Mill, sixth.

800-meter run Ben Brantley, McIntosh, first; Kentavious Wilson, Starr's Mill, second; Steven Morrison, Starr's Mill, fourth; Patrick Villafane, McIntosh, fifth.

1600-meter run Ben Brantley, McIntosh, first; Bradley Morris, Starr's Mill, third; Ryan Wolfe, Fayette County, fourth; Kentavious Wilson, Starr's Mill, fifth.

3200-meter run Bradley Morris, Starr's Mill, first; Blake Alverson, Fayette County, second; Craig Hyatt, Starr's Mill, third; John Powers, McIntosh, fourth; Ryan Wolfe, Fayette County, fifth.

110-meter hurdles Matt Harlfinger, Starr's Mill, third; Keon Traylor, Fayette County, sixth.

300-meter hurdles Matt Harlfinger, Starr's Mill, second; Michael Brownlee, Fayette County, third.

4x100-meter relay Fayette County 'A', sixth.

4x400-meter relay Starr's Mill'A', fourth.
