Wynnmeade
sympathizes with Golf View Dr.
I am writing to comment on the ongoing Golf View Drive speeding traffic issues. I live in Wynnmeade subdivision and our main street (Wynnmeade Parkway) is the equivalent of [Interstate] 285. We can definitely sympathize with the residents of Golf View. Our 35 mph speed limit and our "caution children at play" signs don't mean a lot to the people who have no regard for the laws of the road. Drivers travel our subdivision at speeds of 50 to 60 mph especially during the hours between 4 and 8 p.m. What is most disturbing is that the majority of this traffic doesn't live in our community. They come from Newnan, Gay, Senoia, Luthersville, the other side of Peachtree City, you name it, everyone and their whole family visits Wynnmeade. Sometimes the noise from cars going back and forth so much can ruin a quiet Sunday afternoon at home, not to mention the rest of the week. People make prohibited left turns into our subdivision when the traffic is backed up from Coweta so that they won't have to sit through the light, and they turn and go out as if they are going to the Summit Apartments or to the other subdivisions in our area. If you add all that with the tweeters (which in my opinion should be outlawed as noise pollution), who can actually find a solution to this problem? It is a blatant disrespect for community, safety and the rules of operating a vehicle. It isn't just young people, but so-called adults as well. Thank God for the Peachtree City Police Department because what order we do maintain, they have helped us to do so. Their presence in our community is a good thing and our residents welcome it. I agree that driving is a privilege and when it comes to one's rights, it is ours to make the concerns with these issues heard loud and clear. Merrilyn Arnold Wynnmeade
