Tigers busy on links

The Fayette County Tigers golf team played right through spring break into the home stretch of the season, with two recent tournaments and some head-to-head team matchups.

At the Jekyll Island Invitational the weekend of April 4-5, Ian Cutting shot a round of 76 on the Pine Lakes course in competition against Eagle's Landing and Camden County, while Robby Jourdan turned in a round of 81.

The team followed that up with an April 7 appearance in the North Cobb Invitational, where Cutting scored 75 to place himself in the top 10 among more than 100 golfers. Andrew Gray shot an 82 in the tournament.

Coming back home this week, the Tigers lost a close match with Northgate at River's Edge, although it was the team's best performance so far this season. Ryan Fielden carded a three-over-par 39, followed by Jamal Brownlee (40), and Paul Figel (41). Gray and Jourdan tied at 42.

The team then defeated Griffin at the Links, as Fielden led the way with a 40, and Jourdan shot a 42.
