Pioneers set track meeting

An informational/organizational meeting for the SouthSide Pioneers Track & Field Club is scheduled for Thursday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Peachtree City Library. Interested participants should bring a copy of a birth certificate or driver's license, a list of current or most recent events with personal bests, and uniform size (required; windsuit is optional).

The team's current practice site is McIntosh High School, with other possible practice sites at Fayette County High and Sandy Creek High. The season runs from May through July.

"The SouthSide Pioneers Track Club is a family-oriented club. We strive to work with our athletes for their athletic and personal development, but not at the expense of spending time with their families during the summer," according to a recent statement.

Volunteer coaching positions are available. Serious inquiries should be made to 770-719-4664.

The club, a winner of the 2002 Georgia Games Team Sportsmanship Award, is a member of USATF and AAU.
