Soccer teams staying busy this week

The local soccer teams had good games this week, in preparation for a busy weekend.

Starr's Mill's boys defeated carver,Columbus 12-1 on Tuesday night. Wes Kent and Chris Bowen each had a hat trick, while Justin Davis, Billy Jacobsen, Jack Landis, Robert Fleming, Tyler Murphy and Kyle Nowicki each scored one. The Lady Panthers defeated sixth ranked Walton 3-1 on Wednesday night. Katie Jacobsen scored the first goal on an assist from Tannah Castro. Walton tied the game in the second half with just under 20 minutes remaining but Starr's Mill responded with two more goals sortly afterwards. Kelley O'Hara scored unassisted and was followed by a goal from Sara Burke, who was assisted by Lindsay Anderson. Starr's Mill will face Lovejoy at 6 and 8 p.m with the girls playing before the boys.

McIntosh's girls and boys played at Newnan on Wednesday night. The Lady Chiefs improved to 6-0 on the season with a 2-0 win, while the boys won 1-0. The Lady Chiefs will host Grissom, Ala. tonight and will host Fayette County at 6 p.m. on Saturday with the boys following.

Sandy Creek's girls are playing in the East Coweta Invitational this weekend. The Lady Patriots lost 4-0 to Northgate on Wednesday and faced Douglas County last night after the paper went to press. They will take on East Coweta tonight at 5 p.m. and will face Alexander on Saturday at 9 a.m. The boys played at Duglas County last night and will play at Landmark Christian at 5 p.m. this afternoon.
