Track season starts off on right foot

This past Saturday, the Landmark Christian boys and girls track teams competed well in their first outdoor meet of the season: the Collins Hill Icebreaker Invitational. Running against primarily 5A schools, the Landmark boys team finished fifth overall, with 38 points, and the girls finished second overall, with 88 points (only seven points behind the winner, Shiloh).

The boys were not at full strength, missing two top performers and two others running injured. Highlights in the meet came from Joseph Register scoring 19 points and breaking the school record in the pole vault at 13'8." Lindsey Vincent scored 34 points with 1st place in the long jump, 400, and 200. Sierra Hill had 22 points with a 1st in the 300 low hurdles. Register and Vincent are Fayette County residents. Hill is from S. Fulton County.

For track afficionados, McIntosh High School will host the McIntosh Relays on Saturday with action running all day. This event will feature a number of local track teams taking on some of the stronger teams in the state.
