Soccer teams get early season wins By MICHAEL
BOYLAN Once again the conditions were not great for soccer, but local teams battled their opponents and the weather. Starr's Mill's girls got a 5-0 win over Kennesaw Mountain . Freshman Kelly O'Hara scored a hat trick in the span of two minutes halfway through the first half. Sarah Burke scored the fourth goal right before the half. In the second half captain Lindsay Anderson scored the fifth and final goal. Assisting on the goals were Shelley Wegryzyn with two, Michelle Callen, Beth Meadors and Tannah Castro. The Lady Panthers will face Milton at home tonight at 6 p.m. with the boys game following. Newnan's Lady Cougars fell behind Milton 1-0 but got two goals in the second half to get the win. Wynn Mottola scored the first goal for Newnan, while Lanie Scott notched the game winner. Newnan will face Northgate at Northgate tonight at 5:30 p.m. McIntosh's boys and girls both defeated Mundy's Mill 20-0 on Tuesday night. The Lady Chiefs are 5-0 and have yet to be scored upon,while the boys are 4-2. McIntosh's girls faced Chapel Hill last night after the paper went to press and both the boys and girls will take on Newnan in Newnan next Wednesday. Sandy Creek's boys lost to East Coweta 5-1 on Tuesday night while the Lady Patriots were off. Both the boys and girls will play at Lithia Springs tonight. The Lady Patriots will play at 5:30 with the boys following.
