Basketball teams face tough region competition

Tuesday night's high school basketball games saw Sandy Creek split with Lithia Springs and East Coweta sweep McIntosh.

The Sandy Creek girls won their seventh game in a row by edging out Lithia Springs 50-48. Tracey Paschal scored 10 points for Sandy Creek. The boys fell to Lithia Springs 84-69 despite 31 points and 10 rebounds from Kevin Craig. Sandy Creek will play at Pebblebrook tonight and will host Forest Park tomorrow.

East Coweta's Lady Indians defeated McIntosh 62-43. Ashley Godfrey led East Coweta with 19 points while McIntosh's Alice Lowery scored 14. The East Coweta boys won 65-61, getting a contribution from Durrell Elam who scored 15 points, while McIntosh's Adam McWilliams scored 12 points. McIntosh is off this weekend, while East Coweta will face Newnan at Newnan tonight.

Other games scheduled for tonight include Starr's Mill against Riverdale, Carver, Columbus at Fayette County and Mt. Zion, Carroll at Landmark Christian. Landmark will pay at W. D. Mohammed tomorrow. Friday's games start at 7 p.m., while Saturday's begin at 6 p.m.
