Arson ruled out as cause of Fayette Daily News blaze

Although the investigation is still ongoing, fire investigators have ruled out arson in the Thursday morning blaze that destroyed the offices of the Fayette Daily News in Fayetteville.

P&Z off to an eager start in 2003

The Fayetteville Planning and Zoning Commission will conduct its business for the first time in 2003 at Tuesday night's work session, scheduled for 7 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.

Fayette's new fire station on public display Jan. 18

Mandatory driving tests begin

Beginning this month, the Department of Motor Vehicle Safety will initiate mandatory on-the-road driving tests for anyone getting their first Class D driver1s license. In the past, many applicants were only required to pass a series of maneuvers among cones in a secluded parking lot driving course.

A number of years ago, probably more than a decade now, I wrote a column about people who have a mind to work. I almost looked up that column last night after I watched the Enron movie on CBS, but it was late, and I didn't want to further disturb the sleep I was looking forward to at the end of a long and busy weekend.
