Fayette wrestlers win Brookwood tournament

The FCHS wrestling team won the Brookwood Invitational this past Friday. Due to Brookwood being in the football finals the tournament format was altered a bit and the whole tournament was completed in one day. Fayette County was first, Chattahoochee was second and Brookwood was third.

Champions of their weight class from Fayette County were Drake McCoy (275), Patrick Kellerman (152) and Joe Strickland (171). Runner-ups were Chris Leslie (215) and Matt Kellerman (130). Finishing third were Stephen McElrath (135) and Will Barnes (189).

This Friday and Saturday Fayette County will be hosting the Fayette County Christmas Classic. Matches begin at 9 a.m. both days.

The finals should start around 5 p.m. on Saturday. Parkview, Starr's Mill, Pope, Wheeler, Chattahoochee and Troup County, are some of the top teams attending.
