The first part of the high school basketball season continued on Tuesday night and many local teams ended up on the short end of the stick.

McIntosh's Lady Chiefs fell to South Cobb in the Mt. Zion Thanksgiving tournament, 59-52. South Cobb took a 10 point lead in the first quarter but McIntosh regrouped, played better defense and shot better in the second and third quarters. The Lady Chiefs took a 51-49 lead with a little over three minutes left but lost when South Cobb's play got more physical.

Sarah Cage led all scorers with 22 points, a team best so far this season. McIntosh will play at Riverdale on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. with the varsity boys playing afterwards.

Sandy Creek's varsity boys faced the top rated Creekside Seminoles and lost 76-65. The Patriots played a good game, going into the half deadlocked with the Seminoles at 36 ponts a piece. Creekside took a lead in the second half but Sandy Creek cut the lead to six points with just over a minute to go before Creekside pulled away.

Kevin Craig was the leading scorer for Sandy Creek with 21 points, while Aaron Caruthers put up 14 points. Sandy Creek will host Lithia Springs on Dec. 3 at 7:30 p.m. after the Lady Patriots 6 p.m. game.

In other games on Tuesday, Starr's Mill's boys fell to carver, Columbus 71-47, while Landmark's Lady War Eagles defeated Cross Keys, 81-17. Other games scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 3 include Fayette County at Lovejoy, Starr's Mill hosting Newnan and Our Lady of mercy hosting Southwest Atlanta Christian. Games are scheduled for 6 p.m. for girls varsity and 7:30 p.m. for boys varsity.
